When I was sixteen, I wanted to get a Creed tattoo on my bicep to show off my awesome taste in music. Luckily, my parents weren't complete failures and now I don't have anything on my arms.

That's how those shitty formative years are supposed to play out.

Those theories are explained in the wiki page.

I wish this were true. It's so often that a father such as yourself, who did his utmost to raise his child in a conservative, God-fearing home, comes home to find his son blowing his effeminate friend Tristan.

A fact conveniently left out by the Left.

Diabetics should just accept it and leave it untreated.
You can't cure diabetes and you (probably) can't cure being transgender. Instead, you treat it the best way you can. With being transgender, the best thing may be to help the person get over their gender dysphoria (the anxiety caused by their body not matching their gender identity) and that could include transitioning.

I'm not saying this is best for everyone who is transgender, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out as being the best option for some people. That's a decision best left to professionals and not nerds on a sports forum.

Apples and oranges. Getting a Creed tattoo is way worse than medically changing your gender.

You are a cause of the problem...sure, simply accept a life-altering move cause it's getting popular.

Parents are there to guide their children and look out for their greater good, not to be their bestest pal.

You're an idiot and hopefully you never have kids.

Is it though? I could have extended the r to look like a c, and added "su" to the front and I'd have a "succeed" tattoo. You're not gonna make your mutilated genitals and fricked up endocrine system look like anything but what they are.

My point is that teenagers are dumb and shouldn't make long term decisions (especially about their junk).

Much like a "Succeed" tattoo, if you look closely enough you can probably tell it's not the real thing, but a skilled professional can make it look passable. Depends on what they're working with to start out.

She was born male

He was born female

So if they decide that they were wrong, and wanna go back to their initial gender, how easy is that gonna be to reverse?

Not to mention the fact that most families don't have the ungodly amount of money that this requires.

Also, it's a fricking teenager!!!

It's not commonplace.

My response to my fictional child would depend on their age.

If they are a full grown adult, I will give them my opinion on the matter and tell them to live their life. Just don't expect me to be supportive of it.

If they are a young child, I'm getting more involved and will actually do some parenting.

You have a penis, you are a male.
You have a vagina, you are a female.

Right, that's exactly why I think any decision like this needs to be made after extensive evaluation and consulting with medical professionals. It shouldn't be taken lightly at all.

What happens if this doesn't change the way they feel about their gender? Let's say your kid insists and starts acting contrary to your wishes.

Say man, as long as that evaluation and consultation takes enough time that he turns twenty one prior to its completion, then he can do whatever the frick he wants.

I guess we found some common ground? Hell yeah. I love it when that happens.

Yeah I mostly agree with your position, but I'd be willing to be supportive of hormone replacement therapy if that was the recommendation of my kid's medical professionals and that opinion was arrived at after extensive consultations. Sex reassignment should definitely wait until adulthood, and should be avoided if at all possible. The risks are pretty great, and from what I've read, a lot of trans people don't need it.

I would try to remind them of the truth. Gently and lovingly.

You can be disgusted by whatever you want, that's a personal and subjective thing.
