We've tried the litte cup with the hidden medicine cup inside, we've tried mixing it with juice, chocolate, etc, we've tried flavoring in at the pharmacy, we've put food coloring in it so it looks different...

...I swear she can smell it and flips the frick out whenever this particular antibiotic gets close.

And we still have 5 more days of this. Ugh.

Is there any other ideas? Its a war every morning and evening that usually ends with both daughter and mother crying.

This is the only medicine we have ever had this problem with. She takes everything else fine.

Straight up bribery. Something she wants to do - something she wants to eat. Whatever it takes, just be nice about it. Nobody likes to be sick or take medicine. She's not self aware enough to make the connection that the medicine will make her better - that's your job, baw.

We have learned which medicines to ask for based on taste. But for the bad stuff I squirt it in an apple juice box and challenge him to a chug off. It works. I have mixed it in gogurt before and that did ok. Some days I just gotta hold him down in a headlock and shove it in

You should have mixed flavor in it at the pharmacy. The strong anti-biotics are terrible and make my youngest daughter gag. I put grape bubblegum flavor at the pharmacy last time and she took it fine. You can put as many flavors as you want. It makes a huge difference.

My toddler (my 2 year old son) takes all his stuff with flavoring as well.

Went through this with my now 6 year old when she was that age. We tried putting it in coke in the very bottom of the coke bottle. She wasn't allowed to drink coke and thought she was big stuff swigging from the 20 oz bottle. Risky though bc if she rejects it you don't know how much they got. Otherwise we got a medication syringe, held her little butt down and slowly and patiently dripped it into her screaming/half choking mouth. Then follow with a treat and hugs so they can calm the frick down.

I literally hold my 1.5 year old down on his back, squeeze his cheeks until his mouth opens a little, dump the whole dropper in and blow in his face. His natural reaction is to swallow. He gets pissed but it is over in 5 seconds and everyone goes about their business.

It is not hard if you take control of the situation. The kid might be pissed but too bad.

Is it a compounding pharmacy? They can usually help with that

Try a medicine dropper--squirt the medicine into the back SIDE of her mouth (inside her cheek), blow on her face and hopefully she'll swallow it. Then give her a gummy to chew afterwards as a reward & to get the taste out of her mouth.

My daughter was big on naming things...so I called liquid medicine "feel good juice" and she adapted and wanted it if she felt bad.

I always had an easier time with liquid than pill form. She hated children tylenol for some reason...eventually I figured out it was the size of it that bothered her...so started breaking it into about 4 pieces and she took it that way.

I only had to put her in a headlock once...she is a quick learner...after the first headlock and force, she learned she didn't want to do that any longer...so just the threat of daddy holding her and making her take it got her right.

Last time I gave my kid medicine I had to do this. Ended up knocking out his loose tooth... there was cough syrup and blood all over the bathroom. It looked like a fricking crime scene.

Small syringe (no needle of course). Insert into the corner of her mouth.

When it came to that... I'd get one of those syringe type things and shove it in the back of his throat.. Squeeze it and hold his trap shut..

Still not as bad an experience of teaching my 8 year old how to swallow a pill.. Most frustrating ongoing experience of my life.
