Threaten to beat her arse if she doesn't take it.

Just kidding - I find the syringe in the mouth technique works best.

Yep, like you'd give medicine to a dog. Or you could get her a shot, that's what we've had to do before. Once got the nasty oral liquid, had to go back to the doc for a shot. So we get the shot first now.

Flavor doesn't help on some, I tasted it myself and it was nasty as hell - icecream wouldn't help.

IMO you are being way too nice about it. Just hold her down, stick a med dropper in there, dump it all, and hold her mouth shut.

She will be scored for like 3 seconds and mad at you for like 5. Then you just say "you have to take your medicine no matter how bad it tastes"

Done deal. 30 seconds start to finish. She won't be traumatized or hate you if you're scared about that.

You use a syringe and make it happen. This is one of those times when you have to parent. It's in her best interest. You can't be scared to get her upset. And, you have to be able to get her over the fear in the long run.

At my request, my pharmacy would add a bubblegum flavoring to my son's medication. Never had a problem.

If it's a small pill, put it in some pudding and feed it to them. If it's liquid, bend the little bitch backwards and pour it down her throat. Worked well for me.

Came in here to post this. Several of my friends who have kids swear by it.

this is exactly what I have been doing

the problem is that my daughter has this thing when she gets really upset, she vomits

so when I hold her down and force her to take it, she obviously gets really upset and half the time ends up throwing it all up 10 seconds later

Put it in the syringe and let them control it. Give them a treat afterwards. And do a dance.

Maybe call the dr and ask for a different antibiotic? If she's not keeping it down, it's probably not working like it should anyway.

Can you bribe her with stickers?

We will do sticker charts at work sometimes. Each time they take it, sticker on chart. So many stickers equals a trip to our toy closet to pick out a small prize.

If you are doing the syringe....put in side of the mouth like others said. Straight in and to the back of mouth will just make her gag and throw up. Massage her throat after to make her swallow.

Or....try giving small amount of med, then sip of juice. Repeat until med given.
