Is this something you’d have to plan from the beginning of HS? Anyone had a child do this?

Not hard from public school.

Some private schools won’t allow it.

If the student is planning on going to a traditional four-year college, I would say what's the point? The student should just enjoy his/her senior year, it's the last time he/she has essentially no responsibilities.

It’s really pretty easy if your child does well in school without much challenge. My son will be eligible to graduate early next year but we won’t allow it. Better to entire college the same time as your peers.

In that case, definitely go for it. Just talking in general. No other good reason unless you're not planning on going to college and need an income ASAP.

Yea, they have to enroll in college within a week or so of graduation anyway…and if you’re going to start day one…that spring could be huge for your success.

Unless you’re enrolling early to play spring ball, this is just dumb. Take the college credits in high school so that the school district covers tuition then graduate college early.

I don’t think my high school had that as an option.

There are a ton of different situations for athletes…but I think it’s a great bargaining chip when these schools end the season next year and want to make a move at certain positions.

Telling Bama or LSU you’d go through the spring competition would be huge…and you may effectively be able to earn a roster spot in those months.

Starting after the summer may just have to work.

Being able to begin college with college credits and enter the work force earlier to start making a living.

I’ve not heard of it ever happening at my son’s school. They’d probably charge me a good amount as well.

He could go to community or online college and then matriculate to University campus the same time as his peers. Or, heck, get a job, internship or travel abroad with the 8 months off.

Mine did it. He enrolled at Resolute Academy which is an online school based out of Dallas. It's self-paced so he was able to knock out his last semester of classes in 2-3 weeks.

Look into early college at your HS. College credits for free while in HS.
