I saw a tweet on Twitter from Brees over the weekend about his son's championship flag football game in San Diego, which based on his tweets is where they live in the offseason. I know during the season his oldest kids attend Newman and the younger ones go to McGehee's Little Gate.

So how does that work? They go to school for half the year in New Orleans and then the other half in San Diego? Wouldn't that be hard for the ones who are actually past Kindergarten in school? What about friends? Keeping their different classes on the same lesson plans?

I was just wondering how this worked? Also, seems to point to Brees and his family getting the hell out of New Orleans once he's done with football. He won't be hanging around like the Mannings.

DB went to Newman and said, when I'm not playing football, we're in San Diego. That's not going to be a problem, right?

And you're right, Brees is out of New Orleans the day he's no longer an active Saint. There's nothing wrong with that, but the Brees-LOVES-New-Orleans-and-will-be-mayor crowd are a bit disillusioned.

Do you blame them for not wanting to stay in NOLA?

Here in the keys we get a lot of families where the parents don't work or work seasonally and the kids come to school for a few months every year and then they go somewhere else. I know of kids who split up their school year in 3 different states. Lots of times families have houses in multiple places.
In some cases the families do a bit of sport picking. Different schools for for different sport seasons. I have a student who plays HS baseball in Fl and Rhode Island and another kid who plays soccer in California and Florida.
Some families spend parts of the year in different states.

I never thought about it but this is definitely something we need to figure out. I think we're gonna need some stake-out style surveillance, do you think we could get enough interest to raise money for private investigators or should we just do it ourselves? I've got some PTO saved up so I'm good for about a week, but if we don't crack this case by then, things could get hairy. What's your situation like?

Meh, I don't fall in with the New Orleans bashers on this board. I grew up here and then lived away for 15 years, and now i'm back -- and I couldn't be happier. But I recognize that it's not for everyone, and it's a difficult adjustment for a lot of outsiders, which is the case for Brees' wife from what I understand.

Not NO bashing but SD is a beautiful city and no-brainer decision obviously.

$$$ & celebrity allow these types of situations to work out.

You should go to Jimmy Johns in Covington tomorrow for Drew Day and ask him.

Hi, my name is (whatever) Brees. My dad is Drew Brees. Wanna meet him?

If they are splitting the school year, the New Orleans half has to seem like a breeze (no pun intended) to them.

The fact that he's opened quite a few Jimmy John's locations in NO metro area, become a part owner in Walk-On's, and is about to open a bunch of Dunkin Donuts locations in LA would lead me to think otherwise. Doesn't mean he's going to live in NOLA full time after he's done playing for the Saints, but I'd at least think he plans on keeping a house here and still spending a decent amount of time in New Orleans.
