Then they take them to the best neighborhood in town and their eyes light up and they tell them, here's what you want. For $1.1mm.
the fake arguments they get into on that show are pretty real.

Judging by google images, Paige is a freak in the street as well.

A three way with Paige, myself, and Genovieve(sp?). Oh how I wish. My wife thought I actually liked the show for the projects.

Usually its newly married 25 yr olds where the husband is an Internet marketer and the wife is unemployed, and their budget is $600k.

It's been well documented that the show is a fraud. Why I don't watch anymore.
Where?

I don't care. My wife and I still like the show.

I know people who did this show near Atlanta 2 months after they already bought the place.
Basically the show not only scams viewers but it also scams the Georgia tax payer out of tax credits.
How do you make the leap to it scamming the Georgia tax payer out of tax credits? The tax credit is not for filming a documentary but rather filming in Georgia period, regardless of the nature of the content.

Buying on the Bayou looks fake also
It's super fake. I've watched them take people to camps "only accessible by boat" that are next door to the boat launch and you can easily drive to . I've recognized people on the show as well, and although it's not right to speculate as to their financial situation, I seriously doubt they were legitimately looking for a camp at that point in their life.

I was on HHI (they filmed last May and it aired in December). We had been living in the Netherlands for a year and a half when they contacted us (through my wife's blog). Although we were already living in the house, they said that this was common and they would 're-create the scene' from when we first moved here and asked a bunch of questions about our arrival. The other two houses they had us tour were pretty awful and we never would have picked them, so it was pretty obvious which house we would pick. That was probably good, because it would have sucked to pick our house when we knew another one was better. On the day we toured our house they brought a moving truck, put all our stuff on it, then moved it back at the end if the day. I was nervous as shite when it finally aired, but it turned out alright.

What did you get out of it? Sounds pretty damn pointless to be on the show and have a moving truck come and disassemble your house for a day, only to bring back your same exact furniture later that day? Tell me you got some $$$ or some new shite once it was all done.

Already knew the show was a fraud.
Still watch it all the time though.
Love the ones where they have like a 2 million dollar budget to find a new home in the Bahamas or some other tropical location.
Or the couples buying their retirement home in Ecuador or Costa Rica.

They paid us $1500. It's also a cool documented story of our time over here that we'll always have.

On the St. John episode, the couple who was featured also posted on the island forum I read. He said they hadn't chosen a house at that point but were asked to make up "dislikes" about each...no matter how silly.

Sooo is your buddy mad that they paid him to do a fake TV show? He could've always said no.

quote:Good point. This actually makes me feel better about some of the couples' stupidity when they choose an obviously worse house. It's most likely because they had already bought the shitty house.

No all is cool with him. And we still watch every episode. Ha!

Long story short, he had already been living in his condo for three months and the premise of the show obviously ended where he chose the place where he already lives. He got a few painted walls and a new couch out of the deal.
This wasn't common knowledge?
The regular house hunters is the same way.
ETA: Still watch though. My least favorite people are the ones that have a ~200k budget and are shown a house that checks off most of their requirements and is priced at ~150k and they are apprehensive because it's more than they're willing to spend. If you're not will to spend ~200k on a house that fits your wants and needs, then your budget is not ~200k.
