Well, it's not really all that "fraudulent" as you make it out to be, per se.
I once heard that the average person looks at about ten different properties before they find the one that suits them best--basically, the show is a bit misleading because, in the interests of time, they only look in depth at three of those ten or so houses.
Also, the homeowner is required to have closed on the property to guarantee that the one that they pick is truly going to be the one moved into. In some of the cases, the buyers have already started to move into the home by the time the filming has started, so the show has been known to temporarily move them back out again to film some shots of the "vacant" property. Again, not really "fraudulent," to use your words, but a bit misleading, all in the interests of cramming it all into a tidy, half-hour show.

make up "dislikes" about each...no matter how silly.
Like the episode where one of the "must haves" was fricking popcorn ceilings. Seriously?!?
Oh and on one of the HHI Okinawa episodes, they used the house of one of my wife's Japanese coworkers as one of the choices. It wasn't for sale or rent.

This information came out three years ago. HH International is a huge fraud. The normal HH's isn't as bad.

I remember when the chick on trading spaces glued straw to the people's wall.

So the reason you watch that show is because you want to see people actually buy and live in houses? Thats odd. I watch it to see a bunch of cool, unique foreign places to live. This changes nothing for me.

Same thing happened to my son. they used his house as one of the houses that was for sale and to choose from. It was not chosen naturally but the buyers chose a house they had already bought before the show. It just aired a couple of weeks ago.

Fixer Upper is the best show on that channel.
It is fake as can be as well, but I like seeing them look at and pick from disastrous rundown houses for like 15 grand. They then put 150K into the renovation and come out with a really nice place.
It's based out of Texas so I'm sure some of you know the contractor. Guy is goofy and looks like the little brother of Chuck Norris. Can't knock him though because he married up and they seem like good people.
Also, shouldn't this thread be on the Movie/TV Board??
