Did you see the Thursday night boxing on Ambergris Caye? They fly Guatamalans and Mexicans in to fight. They always root for the Guatamalans because they hate Mexicans.

Sweet, those people love their jaguars.

Top of Lamanai in Belize.

Lunch for two was always over $70. Dinner always $100+ and it was all blah.

What? The only meal we had over $100 was at the fine dining place right there on the beach in Cruz Bay.

Sounds like you just suck.

to get to South America requires an overnight flight each way.

To get to the Caribbean requires a mid morning departure with a drink in hand at the beach in the afternoon.

No, I actually give the business my patronage, and tip accordingly.

Just like they do domestically, these locales charge obscene prices for drinks. Nothing like $4-6 bud lights.

It's true that you pay extra in many places.

However, the OP could go to Roatan and get a 3 bedroom condo 20 feet from the waves for $3000 a week. Drinks are 2 for $5 everyday. The only time prices go up is when the cruise ships are in port and restaurants are reasonably priced.

There is no need to go halfway around the world to get value for your money.

There is a 10 hr direct flight from Atlanta. I'm not sure why the departure and arrival times are remotely relevant.

I went through he same thing last year when we planned our wedding. Most smaller islands will screw up your travel time. Like all day to get there.

We ended up getting married in Nassau at the One and Only. If you're at a nice resort, all else doesn't matter. We honeymooned in the abacos. Very chill--rent a house for cheap and rent a boat for all week. Bahamas can get as crowded or as wild as you want or as chill as you want.

Because he gets married on a Saturday night and likely wants to be on the beach Sunday afternoon.

Now he's leaving Sunday night, sleeping on plane one night of his trip to arrive in SA early Monday. And instead of leaving Sunday afternoon on the return. He's going through customs at 7pm on Saturday night to land in ATL on Sunday morning.

No, there is no need to go around the world, VABuckeye. But to that point, the state of Florida has better beaches and your money will subsidize domestic capitalist efforts, while costing less. I'd rather see something different and immerse myself in an unknown. I cringe thinking about how much I've wasted in Jamaica, D.R., Mexico, et al.

That said, if I'm bound the Caribbean, it shall be to Jost Van Dyke or Turks and Caicos as I have never been and everyone that has says nothing but fabulous things.
