You do realize that Thailand is politically unstable and not a good place to travel to right now, don't you? Plus it's a little outside of the time parameter he set for travel.

I assure you, the people of Thailand will welcome you with open arms and return you and your Croakies stateside, unharmed.

Everyone in America loves the "I can't take the time off" line. This is all too funny. If you told your boss you've got a once in a lifetime opportunity and need two weeks centered around a once in a lifetime commitment, they will relent or you should consider such an organization to be unworthy of your services.

Check out Anthony's Key Resort in Roatan. We did that and it was awesome. Over the water bungalow and diving.

Would go back in a heartbeat. Very secluded.

We aren't going scuba diving

More along the lines of massages, booze, food, quiet beach lounging, and lots and lots of intercourse.

What makes it once in a lifetime?

You don't live in reality bud.

ETA: I could take off, but she hasn't been at her job a long time and she is the only nurse for her doctor who does several surgeries a day. She had really stretch to get 1.5 weeks.

And 13k is a shite ton of money man. We are 26 year old newlyweds. 10th anniversary I'm sure we'll do something like Thailand for a month, but its just not realistic at the moment and is HARDLY a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thailand's beaches are not going anywhere.

This is all we did. Many many Belikens were consumed as well has some drinks that I have no idea what were in them.

Made flights almost every day to different parts of the country and were back in time for dinner most nights.

For Honeymoons look no further than ...

Nevis Island

You're away from EVERYTHING. Very few people on the island with you.

I have a 3 bedroom condo for 8 nights starting next Thursday at the Grande Bay resort in Cruz Bay. A buddy owns a condo there so I have a Suburban to drive for the week. The condo was $4600 for 8 nights which I consider priced well given the location.

So no food included? Will they feed you from a trough?

I spent some time in USVI. Food prices and drinking was outrageously expensive. Rented a condo, nice beach, jeep, etc. It was ok. Lunch for two was always over $70. Dinner always $100+ and it was all blah. In Bangkok, I had a 4 hour dinner at a trendy mid rise rooftop, served authentic Thai in a large bed with limitless Singha, Tiger, and dirty Chang and I think it was $65.

Plus you can be driven from one end of Belize to the other in about 2 hours and it's cheap. The average Belizean makes about $1.25 an hour so things are pretty affordable there. Belikin is the only legal beer though.

I was not a fan of Ambergris Cay

I was not either, but just visited for a day from Xcalak in Mexico. We took a quick boat trip over. We LOVED Xcalak. It is a small fishing village about 5 hours south of Cancun. Nothing fancy but a couple of small boutique hotels along the coast...

I don't do, nor do I need all inclusive. I'll be fed from wherever I choose to dine that night and I'm having the condo provisioned with food and alcohol for breakfast, light lunches and snacks. Not sure if I ordered enough beer and booze though.

I think guiness too, I remember having a few of them.

The other beers are just tarrifed so high no one sells them. Any the napkin on the beer is to wipe the lip of the bottle since they are recycled.

Also, you can do Nevis for 12 nights with airfare for around $2500 per person. All inclusive would be slightly more. And of course, less nights would be less. I've stayed here many times. I like the Oualie Beach Resort.

I'm with you, $13k is a lot but you don't have to go high roller. I was lucky to not have to foot the bill on the wedding so we took the gift money and had a ridiculous trip.

You can rent air conditioned bungalows for $30 a day.

Of that $13k, $5,000 was on flights and transport. We chartered a boat for $600 a day, huge waste but when in Rome.

Thailand a beaches will likely be ruined in a decade.

Want a great spot on the cheap, but something different, try Beunos Aires, The Paris of South America.
