Home air conditioner a/c evap coil labor cost

What is average labor cost to replace a home a/c evaporator coil on the inside unit? TIA.

Is it in the attic, a closet, under the house, in the basement or part of a package unit?

replaced my inside evap coil and with parts and lobor, one quote i received was 950.00. This was on the cheap end because it was a new company trying to get their name out there

bout 500 is normal

You have to recover all the freon, cut the lines, replace the coil and pan usually, then solder it all up, pull a vacuum, recharge system. Probably 3-4 hours of work, with freon and acid away and solder material costs. 500$ is a fair price. call me and ill do it for $400..

seriously

My house is 2 y/o. Contractor said coil was leaking. MY COST was to be $660 (labor and shipping)....part was under warranty. After threatening to call builder about this BS, contractor folded and agreed to "cover the expense"...didn't want me to call the builder.

I was quoted $1900 for a 3 ton evaporator coil (Lennox) with a R22 expansion valve...apparently, I have a freon leak.

Is this a total rip off or what?

Mine was a 3 ton evap coil in the attic for 950.00. The highest quote i received was 1300.00 for everything. Like i said above the 950 was on the cheap end because they were trying to drum up new business. I talked the 1300.00 down to 1100.00 since i received the quote for 950.00 and he had already added my freon twice without charging me for it. So i would say 1900.00 seems high, where are you located?

Price might be right for your area.

I don't know which model you have but my cost on Rheem/Rhuud American Standard for that ton coil and valve goes from $300 to $400 tax included.

I'm in Alabama but surely there can't be that much difference.

1900 sounds about right for lennox, rheem coils are significantly less expensive than trane and lennox evap coils.
