Yeah, but most of them won't.

Apparently they are listed as vulnerable, which is a step below endangered. But I believe Cecil was the last living lion, which is a little confusing.

I, for one, completely and unconditionally absolve Walter Palmer of any wrongdoing.

Walter Palmer paid a lot of hard-earned money for the legal right to shoot a lion.

Unbeknownst or perhaps somewhat beknownst to Walter Palmer, Walter Palmer's hunting guide helped him lure out an unfortunate choice of a locally popular lion.

Now troves of Internet tough guys and sissy babies are upset over a lion they've never heard of, would've never heard of, and didn't give a single frick about until the media identified Walter Palmer.

It's not about a dead lion. Cecil could have been a nutria or a warthog, just the same.

It's about the phony, self-loathing pent-up rage over the so-called White Privilege, as personified by Walter Palmer.

Good luck, Walter Palmer. Fight the good fight.
Initially I agreed with you. Then I read about Mr. Palmer's prior run ins with the law regarding possible poaching a few years back. Walter Palmer can EABOD as far as I'm concerned. He's earned what he's got coming

All lions look the same. They could throw another lion out there and say "oh look! There's Chandler the Lion!", and idiots out there would be none the wiser.

Yes, all lions look the same. But that is definitely not the point at all. You can't throw any lion out in a safari like that and expect things to equalize. Lions have different personalities, different social orders, etc.

You can easily say this about a zoo, because I agree, all lions look the same. But that's about the only similarity with lions.

You should be ashamed of using that esteemed Catholic institution's logo. You are not what Georgetown/Jesuits/Catholics stands for. Standing up for this cretin? C'mon dude.

Why is this story considered national news over the plethora of deadly events that have affected human lives?

Media responds to what people find interesting.

This, despite some of the stupidity, is a pretty objectively interesting story. Is it overblown? Sure. People love animals in this country. A dog getting left at a gas station and chasing his owners gets national attention. Who is to say it shouldn't? I can acknowledge that there should be more attention paid to a host of other events, but that doesn't mean the lion story isn't newsworthy.

Remember the outrage over the guy who moved a rock on a Cub Scout camping trip?

I do not recall this, but it sounds hilarious.

Yea, a "Rock". He just moved a "Rock".

I think by a-hole, he meant someone who does more bad then good in this world. So by them dying, its addition by subtraction.

It wasn't. Everyone has been told that. Tell me one time, before this week, that you had ever heard of Cecil the Diesel? Yeah, never.

Wonder how many of these people who are "outraged" know about any US armed forces that were injured killed lately? Are they outraged by partial birth abortions of HUMANS? Are they flipping out because a homeless man died in their city recently of hunger/no medical attention etc?

Everyone seems to think life is like a fricking Disney movie and all animals have a fricking name and are going to sing and dance for them. Awww, poor simba/cecil/cyris/whatever the frick his "name" was.

Get over it. It was an animal and was hunted. Maybe Cedric the lion was a dick and killed too many antelopes? Maybe he deserved it.

Even if those assholes did more bad than good, they had the potential to do more good than bad, until their death.
