Do you consider throwing banana peels, apple cores, watermelon rinds...basically food items, littering?

I say no, it's fertilizer. What's says the OT?

ETA: not in someone's yard or concrete... In the grass on side of road, open lots, canals, ect

It's organic. Feeding animals.

I'm an earth conscious person.

It all depends on where you throw it.

In most cases, littering, and trashy.

Trashy and lazy...

In the woods, I would say it's ok. In your car on the streets, no.

It's not technically litering, but it's trashy.

It probably looks trashy flying out of the window of the car in front of you, but it doesn't hurt anything.

Throwing it in the street is trashy.

Throwing it in an inconspicuous area is not trashy.

This.

I wouldn't toss it on someone's lawn though, or any private property that is manicured/landscaped.

I once got pulled over by a cop at 7 AM for throwing a sausage patty from a McDonald’s breakfast biscuit out of my car window onto a strip of tall, unkept, grass next to their parking lot. He threatened me with a littering ticket, made me get out and pick it up, and walk to a garbage can and throw it away.

I was 16ish. Cops really saved the day there. Baton Rouge really knows where to spend its money.

So if I throw a bunch of orange rinds, moldy bread, and egg shells in your yard, that's totally cool? It's not litter, right?

Not to me, because apple cores etc = biodegradable. However, I think the law would still find it as littering.
