hydrogen peroxide is great for cleaning a dirty wound but don't keep using it as the wound heals as you are killing new cells.

It is tissue toxic. If you dilute it 10:1 though that effect is mitigated and it is still bacteriocidal. I never realized this until starting residency.

Absolutely agree with you. I don't like having to wait as a patient either

That said, as a doctor myself, it pisses me off to no end when I'm asked to get to an appointment early and then wait an extra hour because the doc is running slow.

I have a 45 minute limit in the waiting room then when I get called to the back the clock starts over at 15 minutes. I think that's reasonable.

I did have a doctor bill me for an appointment that I walked out on after waiting 45 minutes. I in turn mailed him an invoice for 45 minutes of my time at $300 an hour(rounded up). I never heard from him again.

So do y'all believe me now about nurses being the absolute shittiest people in the planet?

I have massive respect for family practice docs and internal medicine docs. Backbone of medicine. Too few of y'all around and insurance/Medicaid/ACA isn't making the field any more attractive. There is a reason why many docs are switching to concierge practices.

Certainly some docs fail that recovery the easiest way is to write off the shortfall and reschedule those patients and keep all the others on that day happy.

I prefer to be straightforward and honest thank the patient for being patient with my tardiness apologize for running behind and then move through that appointment as quickly as the appointment allows me to to try and catch up and get back on schedule.

They have providers who are not worried about profit margin. Because the phrase for the day is "Treat 'em and street 'em."

Also, if someone refuses pain meds, doesn't mean they're not hurting.

I have a really high tolerance for most drugs in the codeine family. Meaning I have to take a ton of it to even notice I'm taking it. So I just don't take anything.

But trust me when I say if I'm actually in your office for anything pain related, something is most likely broken or torn. Please have the courtesy to actually check these things for me. Don't just say "well you have some inflammation".

Yellowfin depending on the type of doctor and the nature of the appointment, I would say you could alter those numbers to 30 and 15 or even 15 + 30.

Typically I apologize to a patient for running behind, even though it is very rarely due to an avoidable issue on my part, if I am seeing them more than 20 minutes after their appointment time. And like most people I don't enjoy apologizing.

True. Some docs lose $ treating certain patients depending on insurance. Docs buy vaccines and reimbursements dont cover out of pocket. Writing letters and filling out forms are typically non compensated. Calling for authorization not compensated. Before criticizing docs first u have to know what they do.

Ya'll apparently all see really shitty doctors.

The longest I've waited to see my doctor was ten minutes.

...but you don't know "waiting forever" until you've been subjected to military medicine. Or the VA.

Most problems have been with pediatricians. Almost exclusively use walk ins for that now

That's all I need. I get that y'all will get behind. But any competent business owner will tell you that the recovery from a service failure is just as important, if not more, than the initial mishap.

The patient is NOT always right but they had better be first.

Great providers of health care bend the staff to meet the needs of the patient. Unfortunately, this manner of doing business isn't as prevalent as it ought to be.

I am a provider of health care and we do very fine work.

Bad idea. Urgent care docs not really trained to treat young kids. Too easy to miss something subtle.

Yeah, I dont get that. The vast majority of peds visits are very short and directed and peds direct admissions to hosp are rare.
