That is how many were still burning this evening in Gatlinburg alone. Many more around the county. Watch live news feed on the news site I referenced above if you like.

What's the current word on Sevierville? Aunt and uncle live on the small mountain on the north side of town, across the river. They've got the most important valuables packed and ready to roll, I just haven't heard any updates since this morning. TIA.

Everything I have heard leads me to believe this area wasn't affected as badly.

Kathy is wrong saying these fires were an act of God and not refunding you all. Most of these fires are arson or stupid people not listening to orders not to start fires.

Maybe God was telling them to start the fires.

Gotcha, thanks. I know they were watching it closely and ready to hit the road if it kept creeping north. They're ten minutes from downtown but high enough in elevation to where they're cut off from everyone if something happens due to limited road access.

Just dispute the charges on your card and expect to pay one day's stay.

I had cancelled a condo last week and paid for a day. Any more and I would just dispute it. It's rare to lose disputes.

Me and the wife have been going there every 4-5 years since our honeymoon there 18 years ago.

Looks like your marriage might have two years left tops. Not a good omen at all.

I may do that. I put it on my Marriott Premier Rewards card and they're awesome about catering to the customer. Also, I re read contract today and there's nothing about act of God. Just this:

STORM POLICY/ROAD CONDITIONS – No refunds will be given for storms. Mountain roads can be curvy and steep. Gravel drives are well maintained; however, we highly recommend four wheel drive and/or chains during the snow months. We do not refund due to road conditions.

Just saw some aerial footage and huge swaths of Gatlinburg have literally been torched.

That video looks like dantes peak! Here is a link to the status of the most popular attractions as of today. Ober Gatlinburg and the aquarium were spared. LINK
