You don't play Alabama every year.

This is one of the dumbest posts I've seen in a while. They are actually giving locals a reason to protect the "product" from poachers.

Hold on... You actually believe that the local population is seeing one cent of that money?

HA!

No one should be allowed to kill an elephant, Rhino, Leopard, Lion, etc.

I've been a hunter all my life, I'm not some bleeding heart pussy, but I appreciate nature and I prefer to live in a world with healthy populations of fantastic wild beasts.

The point is that you have to offer incentives for their preservation. If you kill one to save two, then it's a win.

I'm sure you don't think that the locals have any idea what the going rate for one of these animals is? I'm sure you don't think they want a part of that action right? The price paid to hunt them, the price for ivory, skins, bush meat, etc. They know what these animals are worth.

Those areas where these animals thrive are packed with park rangers who monitor populations sizes constantly.

I do not think there are widespread illegal guided hunts if any at all.

Then as a hunter you should know sometimes hunting is used to ensure healthy populations.

Hunting is a conservation tool.

You guys realize that big game hunting in those areas helps to conserve those species because it creates an incentive for the people who live there to conserve their habitat.

Anyone that shoots an endangered animal just for the sake of mounting it tops the list of douchebags. That shite isn't worse than high fence hunting. Hell at least deer aren't close to being extinct even though you can't even eat them they are so full of steroids (the high fence ones).

I kill plenty of things I don't eat, like armadillos/skunks... etc, but a rhino, lion, cheetah, tiger or elephant? frick that.

Sometimes that's true, but it's just as likely that it was illegally lured off of a reserve as another poster alluded to.

Africa and Africans had huge populations of elephants, rhinos, and Lions until Europeans came and put a price on them.

I don't hate Africans.

I wish they could see the long term benefits of tourism that these animals provide alive as opposed to extinct, but I've been to enough third world countries to know people will do anything when their children are hungry and I don't begrudge any man for that.

I begrudge people from other countries who go there to exploit Africa and it's natural resources.

Sure, when you're talking about white tail deer populations in the Southeastern US, or Elk populations out west. Not when we're talking about endangered species of Elephants and Lions. Don't be obtuse.

Anytime they ask one of these schmucks why they do it they say "for the rush".

It's just dudes who want to seem tough and cool. If they need a rush they'd go skydiving. If they wanted to do something manly, they'd hunt with a spear or at least a bow.

So if hunting is outlawed and no more evil Americans and Europeans come what happens?

Parks wouldn't have funding for rangers. Every one of those animals would be killed this year and sold to the Chinese illegal ivory trade.

What's your solution?

Thousands more people travel to Africa to view and photograph these animals in their natural environment than do people who go to hunt them.

They're more valuable alive than dead.
