I think it's more rude to have your children at a fancy restaurant than in first class in a plane, imo

Interesting you mentioned a fancy restaurant. What makes that different than say an applebees? Nicer atmosphere, people pay more to go there, it's a better experience.....kinda like flying first class right?

Not really the same, imo. If you're flying somewhere, it's because you have to get somewhere. You can choose the comfort in which you travel. That goes for trains, cars, planes, boats, etc.

A fancy restaurant really isn't an appropriate place for small children because the atmosphere is for intimate conversation, romance, talking business, etc. In planes, it's a little different. Coach sucks. Your family might not be sitting together, hard to recline or have decent leg room, no alcohol, etc. If a man can afford a more comfortable way to travel for his family, why not? This isn't the 60's anymore. No one is doing blow and getting handjobs in first class in 2015.

Sit where you want to sit. People will get over it.

The thing that pisses me off about first class is that the most senior flight attendants get to choose their assignment and they choose first class, relegating any potentially young good-looking flight attendants (as rare as they have become) to the back of the plane. First class is stuck with the 65 year grandma grouchy because she can't retire yet. The airlines have that part completely backwards.
I worked 28/28 in Santa Fe Argentina for 32 months - flew business class on Aerolineas out of Miama and their attendants was smoking hot. Not so much American on to Houston.

I would go first class with a one year old mainly because of the extra room.

this is the correct answer. The kid will be much more comfortable, so more likely to sleep the entire flight. You'll be much more comfortable and so will your wife.

I think he must have been talking about domestic only. Every international flight I've been on had super hot flight attendants in first/business.

I fly all the time- like made Platinum on AA, United, and Delta on all in one year a while back.

I would fly first- it's always cool to me to see families up front. Besides, it'll be more secluded from the masses and more comfortable for your wife.

You aren't getting a kid's menu, crayons, and a coloring book at Commander's.

Had to be

Domestic first is usually the senior(age and experience) crew.

The Asian airlines still hire on appearance and I applaud their decision to do so.

Fly first. More comfortable for you and people are more chill. Plus they most likely paid out for the good noise canceling headphones.

I feel like people with babies should have to stay in the last four rows of the plane.

if you fly without headphones or earplugs, well shame on you. You don't deserve to be in first class.

Go for it. Regular travelers should know this, if they don't who is at fault?

It's a quick flight and like others said its not like you have a 2 or 3 year old jumping and screaming all over the place. Go for it.

We are going to Austrailia this May with a 4 & 6 year old. My kids are well behaved compared to most but I'm still a little apprehensive about them pissing off stuck up first class passengers. It's a long flight, so at some point they will act like kids.

They give them to you in first/business.

Not sure where some are getting this. They are some of the most pleasant travelers I've encountered.

no matter where you sit, your kid is going to probably bother someone

I'd go first class and try to make the kid as comfortable as possible to reduce any stress or anxiety

You shouldn't care about those in 1st class any more than those in coach.

You sit where you are most comfortable and try to keep your child calm.

If your kid pisses off someone in first class, it is no different than pissing off someone in coach.

Sit in first class.
