So I have to fly home soon and am thinking about flying first class. The kicker is my 1 year old will be flying with me. The other kicker is my wife is 4 months pregnant.

Part of me says don't do that to everyone else flying first class but the other part of me is this will be really nice for my wife and I to manage and keep the little guy occupied. It is a 2-3 hour flight so it isn't a long or bad flight but I have some reservations doing the whole first class thing with a 1 year old.

Is this a dick move or should I say to hell with everyone else and try to make my flying experience as best as it can with a 1 year old.

Honestly, who cares. People on planes generally suck anyways.

Put wife in first, you stay with the kid in the back.

no matter where you sit, your kid is going to probably bother someone

I'd go first class and try to make the kid as comfortable as possible to reduce any stress or anxiety

"OMGAW there is an annoying kid in first class! I AM MORE IMPORTANT THAN THIS!"

If it's me, I'm just ordering another drink and moving on with my life.

Besides, a one year old is better than a 3 year old. My 3 year old is in my office right now and I'm pretty sure he is destroying something. A 1 year old will probably sleep the entire time.

Dude, fly coach. It's 2 hours, it'll be over before you know it.

If I was flying first class to get away from the riff raff and some annoying little baby was screaming the whole way I'd be pissed.

Kids in domestic first class isn't as big of a deal as international. People didn't pay big bucks to get a nice enjoyable meal and a good nights sleep.

If your kid is decently behaved I wouldn't worry about it at all regardless of class.

that's not the mindset at all.

Kids are kids, some of them are loud and annoying. If you're at a restaurant, or shopping, or the store, or whatever...it's one of those things you just try to block out.

A flight is different. You can't "just ignore it" or walk away, you're stuck with it. The ONLY "getaway" you have on a flight is first class, where you're making yourself at least as comfortbale as you can be under the circumnstances. For the screaming and crying ot follow you to first class would be a genuinely irritating experience, and it has nothing to do wiht a sense of overimportance.

Most of the people sitting in first class likely didn't even pay for their ticket, much less the upgrade to first class. Might as well bother them rather than the poor people in the back that spent a weeks pay for their ticket.

All you are entitled to in first class is a bigger seat and free drinks.

My kid will be 1 yr when we go to Ireland. I debated getting first class tickets or getting a row of 3 seats in coach. I think I am going to get a row and try to get the bulkhead seats.

I think it's more rude to have your children at a fancy restaurant than in first class in a plane, imo. There are plenty of restaurants from you to choose from usually. Not so much with planes. OP is not entitled to spend his hard earned money for a more comfortable seating just because he has kids? Kinda a shitty and selfish line of thinking, imo.

The thing that pisses me off about first class is that the most senior flight attendants get to choose their assignment and they choose first class, relegating any potentially young good-looking flight attendants (as rare as they have become) to the back of the plane. First class is stuck with the 65 year grandma grouchy because she can't retire yet. The airlines have that part completely backwards.

I would go first class with a one year old mainly because of the extra room.

In my experiences, people in 1st Class and/or Business are more laid back and won't be too upset. I think you'll be fine unless you let your kid run around and interrupt them.

I'm a considerate person, but I wouldn't even consider this. Fly first class.

What are your thoughts about drugging your kid? Benadryl not actual drugs.
