Depends on how long youve been dating her. If youre in it for the long haul suck it up and try and get her help, even if you have to offer to go to counseling/therapy/whatever with her. The valleys make the summits even greater.

Another thing you should take into consideration is how clean she keeps her apt/house. Seriously.

Eating disorder + Clean house >>>>>>>>>>>>> Eating Disorder + Messy House

Trust me on that metric.

ETA:

Controlling one's environment is waaaay easier than beating an eating disorder. If the lady has a messy house - She's not fixing her issues any time soon.

I dated a girl who was whatever disease causes you to lose weight. I saw her before and after. I was like "thank God you had that disease , or you'd still be a fattie"

Not sure I understand what you're getting at here but she does keep her house and mine very clean. She's really organized. Are you suggesting that this is a sign that she just feels a need to control her surroundings

Step one to beating an eating disorder is to feel in control. People who are "clutter-blind" generally aren't as in control.

What I'm saying is she may not be at "RUN" level on the crazy scale if she keeps a neat house.

ED + Mess is closer to RUN than STAY.

Just be cool. She may be on the mend. Just don't bug her about it. Let her broach the topic.

IMO, she knows it's a problem and wants help, which is why she told you. She may still deny how much of a problem it is (claiming she doesn't do it often when you know she does), but I think she's reaching out for someone to help her.

I had to confront one of my friends just before college graduation because I and several other friends could see that she was starving herself. She completely denied it, moved away and we lost contact for a several years. We have since reconnected; although she is still very health-conscious, she seems much better so I guess she got treatment somewhere along the line.

If you plan on sticking around, you should read up on bulimia. It's a serious eating disorder with mental and emotional factors. It can cause permanent physical damage. If you're planning a life with this person, particularly a life with children, educate yourself because you could be headed down a long road and you can't help her unless she wants to help herself. She obviously doesn't want to do that at this point.

Picture your pregnant wife throwing up intentionally after meals...

much worse than an eating disorder.

at least the chick with eating disorder will eat a normal meal, before she up chucks it.

the OL, we go to places and it's salad and potato shite. I'm like c'mon. She's even is picky, won't eat a lot of black bean stuff, and veggie meals at places. I'm like, what the f? This is veggie stuff and you wont try?

It sucks!

Most vegans dont have much trouble finding something to order at the average restaurant.

Fairly new relationship?

Run!!!!

If you are invested and love her?? Set limits and be ready to bail. Eating disorders usually have issues on top of issues.

I'd make sure that she's getting regular check-ups at the doctor.. If she's "healthy", beyond that, if you can deal with her excusing herself to go puke on the reg, what business is it of yours?
