When the dead have something to say they will talk to you directly, not Whoopi Goldberg.

I don't believe that shite at all and never will unless it happens to me.

The practice is called "cold reading".
Exactly.
Plus they are intently watching your nonverbals. "They knew everything and I didn't say anything" No, you said everything. Good salesmen, fortune tellers, and all film flam artists do the same.
Also, how many unbelievers would pay good money to prove the seance fake. Customers walk in expecting results and help them fake it!
Houdini proved them 100% fake for years. Not a single one was real!

No.
In these churches where the preacher "randomly" picks someone from the crowd and ask them if they are dealing with this or that, which the person is usually dealing with. At some point in time, people are asked, when they first visit the church, to fill out a form, with general information like "are you dealing with any health related issues?" "What family problems are you currently experiencing, etc". They use earpieces.
As for as mediums. I am sure there is some type of strategy. They ask questions that give more detail than the people actually realize and it comes down to narrowing it down.

My wife passed away three weeks ago tonight. I have had one dream about her and it was just a conversation. I asked how she was doing and she I am doing good. Told me this twice. She had a white top on and I asked her what was that color at the top of the shirt and reached over to pull down the top of shirt. Total black and blue, she said bruises from the chest compressions. I then woke up with my pillow soaked in sweat.
So I think you can have that form of communication but not like the psychics do in tv

That's some evil shite-exploiting human grief for financial gain.

Of course not.
When our life functions cease we lose any cognitive abilities.
The theory that we have spirits or somehow transcend this world for another one are rooted in ancient mythology for our own mortal benefit.
Basically when we die we die.

So the ones where the medium says stuff like "I'm seeing a car crash and he was going really fast". Obviously that's specific to a certain thing with the car crash that killed the person
I know they have their tricks but stuff like that is pretty specific and you never heard the person say "umm no they died of cancer".
I'm guessing it's an earpiece or research done before the meeting.
The ones on TV are hard to believe even though they claim they've never met the person prior

Most of the ones I know who communicate with the dead, I committed to the hospital over the years.

I believe that Gary Spivey has the gift. But all of the other so-called psychics are bunk, imo.

I hate these asses that prey upon grief stricken families for their own profit and attention. Loath and detest them.
While i do not believe in them I do feel that the loved ones of the deceased should be open to seeing little signs that their loved one is near. Maybe they are a true sign or maybe they are just a sweet way of finding comfort. Either way it helps the grieving to heal.
TL:DR warning for below, lol.
For me, i have a pretty hanging crystal prism that was in my grams window for decades (my mom gave it to her). We children loved the rainbows it would make daily. I received it after gram died.
I hung it in my window but it did not do that. About 2weeks after my mom died I went into the kitchen and saw dozens of the rainbows on the wall. I told my ex-husband jokingly "look, mama and my gram are dancing in our kitchen". It helped my heart so much to think that my mom and gram were still with me.
Fast forward to a year later and i am in a new home. Prism has been in the window for weeks and I have not seen the rainbows. My sis came to visit yesterday and I told her it was in the window and we sat on the couch by it without thinking much of it.
Within an hour it suddenly created gorgeous rainbows all over the kitchen (it is on a string so it can spin and sway so the rainbows "dance" around the room. We were in awe. It was like being in the presence of my gram and my mom.
Then my pup started chasing the rainbows and we laughed at the thought that my mom and gram was playing with my pup.
Sis and I both feel that it was like mom and gram saying they were proud of us for how we have worked together to get thru the devastating last year (lost mom, my sister's husband and our younger sis all in a 3 month period).

Damn man. Sorry for your loss.

There's some pretty convincing cold readers out there, but if you do enough digging you can always figure out their trick. That's why you gotta find a good tarot reader, you can't fake that shite.

I was listening to Coast to Coast this morning on cold readers and they gave them coordinates and if they weren't retarded, would've known at least a general area. I'm not thinking clearly at 0200 to be honest though.
