Military personnel are praised and lauded because the respect that is given to them is not asked for
However, without the efforts of many unnoticed and unrecognized civilians, there would be nothing worth fighting for or protecting.
This quote is the perfect representation of how fricked up the mind of the everyday citizen is...that there is this unwarrented want for something, that without being praised it not fair
There is plenty worth fighting for and protecting that isn't of some selfish construct of someone's mind. How about the beautiful land this country provides; the many different terrains and scenery. How about works of our founding fathers, the constitution, what are country was founded and based on. IDEALS, not reciprocating actions.
How about the Flag of the United States of America? You think it was designed and woven with the intent of "Who cares what this means and represents, I just want credit for it."
You think these soldiers are looking for credit? Or are they living the Army Values and an Ethos that many before have given their lives to? Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. None of which are "commanded", but all of which warranted. How about this guy? There are plenty other who are unrecognized and unnoticed out their like him, focusing their efforts on furthering black underrepresentation. Rev. Jackson is the epitome of looking for and demanding that people thank him and respect him. Caring about nothing but fame and profits.
