I live in Argyle and moved here from Trophy Club, we wanted bigger lots. If you have kids and want a smaller (for now) school district, and a property that will rapidly appreciate have a look. Properties range from 300K to millions as well. If you are single and in search of tons of night life probably not for you; have to drive to Grapevine/Southlake/Highland Village/Roanoke for that type of stuff. Wife grew up in Trophy Club and the people who have been there for a long time say Argyle is what Southlake was like in the mid 80s right before it took off.

We are looking at Argyle; it's country AF but Roanoke is growing so we could just go there for stuff. Our property taxes are getting out of hand in Southlake. Might pull the trigger next year before my older kid hits Kindergarten age

West Plano/Frisco has the social scene right now. With them opening new stuff in Shops at Legacy West now and more coming soon.

Tons of restaurants and bars. More to come once Toyota makes their final move. The Colony is unrecognizable right now because of all of the growth in the area. They'll continue to get more and more stuff since they have more undeveloped land.

I live in Plano and the property values continue to rise at an enormous rate. Again, it's the Toyota effect with tons of demand for homes with not a lot of inventory built yet.

Southlake is nice, but has an older feel to it. As said before, no nightlife to speak of.

My old neighbors moved up to Frisco and we have visited several times from Houston and it seems very nice.

Southlake/Grapevine and environs are superior to Collin County. I grew up in the latter.

Southlake is next to the airport, relatively less traffic, and you can get to downtown Dallas or Ft. Worth easier. The area still has a small town feel in some ways. Oh, and Lake Grapevine.

Collin county is on the verge of a traffic disaster, and everything is plastic/suburban sprawl.

Just my $.02.

You could live in Dallas proper in that price range. My sister just bought for that price in Dallas right around the Richardson area. Close to the Coit area by 75/635 interchange. SOME really good school districts and neighborhoods over there, and much closer to the social scene you are looking for. Her neighborhood has homes from the 400k-over a $million.

Not sure what kind of commute this would be for you though.

Not a bad one at all. 635 Texpress would get me clear of the clusterfrick.

I would look in the area then. My sister's neighborhood, for example has her kids schools in the neighborhood, and they're really good which will be tremendous for resale. Everything you need like Costco and things like that is no more than 5 minutes away. The only thing lacking is the social scene right in the area, but like I said you are close to uptown, deep elum, ect. Would be less than a $10 Uber.

My equivalent house in Argyle is a lot cheaper. My monthly payment would drop quite a bit with a move to Argyle

It's such a nice place.

Henry's Tavern, love that place to grab a beer and watch a ballgame that eventually turns into just watching hot chicks walk back and forth.

I was going to suggest Richardson as well. I've got friends who live in Richardson Heights right off Beltline and some just East of 75 around Grove and Beltline. Really great area with big lots, mature trees etc. The houses are older, but they're well taken care of.
Plus Richardson has a cool vibe compared to the sterile places like Plano & Frisco. The areas first Alamo Drafthouse opened there. There is a food truck park, a pretty good brewery (4 Bullets), several art & music festivals etc. It is mostly families, but a lot of singles are moving in by City Line/State Farm area

Depending on what you're looking for, this may/may not be your ideal area only because it's a family-oriented location. If you're single and looking to scope out females, you'll have to go out of your way to Shops at Legacy or Uptown.

I live down the road from Top Golf, but it works for me because the location was perfect for what I want.

Southlake is nice, older population and pricey for what it is compared to Collin County with the same resources.

That said, you could do a lot worse.
