Hey guys/gals, anyone familiar with the Southlake region for living? I am looking at Frisco/Plano, however someone at work recommended Southlake/Trophy Club area as well. It would technically save me $$$ on tolls as I can take 114 directly to work. Anyone have any reviews on the area? Property is roughly the same in cost between the areas I am looking at.

Trophy Club is nice. How old are you? There's a lot of single divorced women there...just saying.

I hope you are a trust fund kid. Man, it's going to be very tough to find anything affordable there.

They have houses there that range from 300k to 1.5mil

I am looking around 425-450k (I have already been approved for this amount through Rocket). Which there is a lot of nice inventory. I am just gauging the area is good for a social life or should I just stick to the city centers. I am also looking at property taxes as well.

Southlake/Keller are great suburbs with a wide range of housing options (like someone said $300k into the millions). Both have really good school districts if you have kids but not a particularly strong night life (a lot of chain restaurants in Southlake).

Southlake will have an older crowd and the social scene is mostly suburbialand chain restaurants in shopping centers. Great place to hang out if you are trying to find a widowed sugar momma to take care of you in exchange for you massaging her bunions. But for finding early 30s people it will be a bit sparse.

This is the info I seek. I don't have kids yet but definitely do not plan on moving once in a home for easily 10-15 years. The chain restaraunt thing kinda sucks but I guess I could always go 114 to Dallas proper (Uptown, Deep Ellum, etc.) If I really needed too.

I guess that's why I am so attracted to Frisco. It has it all pretty much. Damn decisions, decisions.

I live in Southlake. Great area for families. Housing prices are killer though. 114 is really developing along 114 to 170. Downtown Roanoke is growing. There is a Breadwinners and Quarter Bar opened up. Trophy Club is developing a huge high end commerical area so that will be good. Grapevine has a nice downtown area.

However, you are single. You were lying last week about having 3 dates in one day last week. Grapevine/Southlake is a great area for families. Plano or even Las Colinas is better for singles

Where did I say I wasn't single? lmao

I work in Las Colinas. I go to the Keg religiously.

I mentioned Frisco/Plano in the same breath.

Southlake is a great area with nice houses, low crime, and great schools. If you are looking for a younger crowd for nightlife, it's not ideal. Southlake Town Square has some nice bars and restaurants but it definitely is more of a 40s+ crowd in the area. You would be very close to Grapevine though (~15 minutes) which is touristy but has a younger crowd, a nice lake and more local type bars, restaurants and wineries.

Fwiw, Grapevine has better restaurants then Southlake. It is not as good as Dallas but it is surprisingly good. Whiskey Cake is going to open up a second location supposedly in Grapevine or Las Colinas. That would be awesome.

if you have to live in the DFW area, Grapevine, Southlake, Keller, Colleyville, North Richland Hills are as good of places as any

Okay there is a common theme from the responses! I really do appreciate the input. I think I am going to stick with Frisco/Plano area.

However, I did go to Lucy's Lot in Grapevine this weekend. Definitely a nice chill bar. I have been making it a priority to visit areas around work that I have not yet just to get an idea before really settling down and buying.

Look at Flower Mound. Schools are just as good as Keller and Southlake. Closer to Plano the Southlake too.

Thanks! I think that was next on the list. I have also looked at Lewisville and The Colony (mostly because I Top Golf there).
