Police said they were looking for a white guy in a white truck. When DTL was arrested the press asked how the police could be so wrong.
The police spokeswoman at the time replied, “This ain’t no CSI” .
TV news also said the police were looking for a V-Tech cordless phone that was missing from Pace’s home. I guess they wanted to see if DTL’s fingerprints were on it.
No lie, I found a V-Tech cordless phone in my front yard the day before the news. I reported it to the police, whoever answered the phone said,”That’s not it.” I said, How do you know unless you see it? She said, “We Don’t want it. Throw it away”. Wow.
PS they never found the phone.

My family is dear friends with the Pace family. My mother’s best friend was her aunt. Tragic day!!
My ex wife is a red-head who was her roommate and sorority sister at Milsaps. She was sitting with Ann during much of the trial in Baton Rouge.

FBI "profilers" have been stuck on serial killers being white for quite awhile. Strangely, profiling by local police is considered racist, yet the FBI has an actual job description of profiler in their agency. Weird, huh?

White male in a white truck
Which is exactly what I drove at the time at around 24 years old. It sucked.

A friend of mine got questioned by police due to the “white pickup truck” angle. He was eating breakfast at Louis while a couple of cops were mean mugging him for 10-15 mins. He finally looked at them directly and said “What?”. They showed up at his work two days later for questioning.

When he was arrested and picture was on the news, my brother called me and asked if that was the guy we had run into at the butte la rose rest area in the mid-nineties, then my mom called and asked the same question
Ive posted this story before - but sometime in the mid 90s, my mom, brother, and I drove to Texas from NOLA, on the way back at night we had some car trouble so we exited at butte la rose to call my dad - dad said chances are we’d make it back to NOLA, so keep driving
Walking back to the car a creepy guy asked if we had car trouble and my mom said yes, so he offered us a ride to the nearest gas station but he said to my brother ‘I’m only taking the girls, you have to stay here’ my brother grabbed my hand and my mom said no thank you - he followed us to the car asking if we were sure - and we drove off
That was probably the quietest we had ever been in the car.

I know of 2 people that got DNA swabbed. One guy was in his car waiting for his girlfriend to get out class and they swooped in on him. Another was a EBRSO deputy and the swabbed him too as a suspect.

My dad said the same thing. He was interviewed as a potential juror for his WBR trial. He said it was very creepy just being in the same room with him.

I worked at a BR gun store during all this….we’d get pepper spray in by the case and people would be lined up to buy it
