Louisiana is soooo fricked
"Dallas, Houston, and Austin are on pace to build a total of nearly 130,000 new homes in 2017, based on a Trulia analysis of building permits. That’s more than 10 percent of all new construction expected in the U.S. this year, and enough to put all three metropolitan areas in the top five for permitting activity. New York and Phoenix round out the group."
By contrast the SWB & Landrieu economies show:
Baton Rouge is adding 3,966 new homes in 2017 up 5.7% from historic average.
New Orleans is adding 2,838 new homes in 2017 down 39.3% from its historic average.
Trulia Homebuilding Market Report
New Orleans and Baton Rouge also scored very high on the percentage point change in vacancy rates with both cities scoring in the Top 7 with the number of vacant properties going on the market. Baton Rouge is #4 (-2.48) and NOLA is #7 (-2.42).
The Louisiana economy is rocking Westward as people who are gainfully employed are moving to Texas.

They can't build them fast enough here. Les Miles has lost control over North Dallas housing market prices.

Congrats on the increased traffic and less demand for your property.

Most of those in Dallas are not coming from Louisiana. It's Toyota and Boeing building their HQs here.

Most people selling in Dallas have multiple offers usually within days and typically sell well above list. It's crazy right now

Well I stick by the traffic part at least

Ehh disagree there. Sure, you've got more availability, but the Texas market is so huge and diverse and the economy doesn't look to be slowing down.

Is this metropolitan area or city limits?

But we actually expand our highways. Katy freeway, before and after.

Texas is our country's last hope.
Expect the swarming to continue at an exponential pace.
Won't be long before we see squatters and such.
Thanks, progs. You fricked up a very good thing.

This is what I don't get, if they transformed their home cities into utopia then why are they moving?

Cost of living and lack of jobs. There is nothing special about Texas in terms of lifestyle except the economic strengths.

"It's so expensive in California, everything here is so cheap!" -on why they moved here
"I don't like the politics!" - On what they don't like
I'm using generalities but you hear both those comments a lot from folks who have moved here. 2+2 is apparently hard to do out there

Texas should implement a "You pay the amount in taxes as the state you came from". Win-win. Either they stay away, or the state gets more taxes.

Except that we are fricking Texas and better than the rest of you.

Texas builds and maintains infrastructure to handle the influx. My house has appreciated in value just fine over the years.

There isn't much more room to build homes in New Orleans.
