The property tax law failed in the special session. Would have made any increase of more than 4% have to go to a vote. The House went with 6%, Senate walked out on that number.
Even at 4% limit, your taxes could go up 40% over 10 years. That's certainly better than the 100% limit over 10 years as it is now but still a big jump.

The next housing bubble is going to be a bitch

Just want to add - property taxes are one of the most communistic policies out there. You don't really own the property. Your paying a mortgage just to have the privilege to rent your property from the government.

The government appraisals will surely come down as fast as they went up...right?

Where was this crazy growth 10 years ago? Seems like it all of the sudden became a hot market.

Low interest rates and a worldwide recession where the US is one of the few economies doing well. Foreign Investment is a big part of the current US Residential Real Estate market as is US "REIT" like investment vehicles for the residential market.

Tech and Fortune 500 companies moving their HQ's helps create a housing need in a already housing short market :(

I never said they did, and the people who think Texas will be California in 20 years are just as ridiculous. I am just saying it annoys me when I meet someone who has moved here because of the economic opportunities and then complain about the political policies and affiliations here
They can't understand that it's the exact OPPOSITE of their politics that make a place like Texas great.
But that's typical of those with politics on the left. A high sense of entitlement and an unrealistic view of the world fuels that side.

Where in Grapevine? I'm in Creekwood Estates. A tree fell on a Bama fan's house this morning. Unfortunately, missed his flag pole.

The Louisiana economy is rocking Westward as people who are gainfully employed are moving to Texas.

California is a more economically vibrant economy than Texas and has more opportunity for people with a college degree. So it must be something other than tax policy or liberal vs. conservative ideas at work.

Damn. I'm very paranoid about this large ash tree that's about to lose it's limb onto the house we're leasing. It'd slide down and nail our car. It's been dying for a while and the owner won't cut it down. Is that the area south of 114 between 360 and 26? We looked pretty hard out there. Much better houses for the money around there is seemed like. We live off dove rd on the west side of the kids park and elementary school and now on the east side of the park.

Having a household with two PhDs in science makes it a bitch to live in DFW. Not a lot of great options for careers. Still plan on doing what we can to stay here though. Hopefully Mary Kay opens their large facility in lewisville soon and more companies keep coming in.

I am so surprised even a small town like Lufkin has a loop and BR still has no loop!

Yep, that's where we are. I'm about a block from Parr Park and a block from the high school. Love the location and neighborhood.
