He is correct. I have dogs and I treat them like family and would never allow any harm to come to them. But I would be a huge hypocrite if I shook my finger at someone who raised a dog for slaughter/food

A) Who the crap raises dogs for slaughter/food?

B) If they did, would they take them to the airport and drown them in the bathroom simply because they couldn't take them on the plane?

I think we all have agreed that the torture is wrong no matter what the animal.

Not me. But I do not think it should be illegal. Alot of people think though that is should be punishable by death, as they eat their hamburger with bacon

I'm sorry but there is an evolutionary history/relationship between domesticated canines and humans, and this is why it should remain illegal. There is a difference between a domesticated dog and a wild hog.

Wild hogs yes. But it is becoming fairly common for people to have pigs as family pets. Wont be long until bacon is illegal. Will be a sad day

frick that shite. My dog's life is ALOT more valuable to me than ALOT of humans out there. If forced to take one life or the other, I would shoot the proven to be TPOS human 11/10 times over my dog.

Edit: rephrased.

You're conveniently disregarding the first part of my post. Dogs deserve that respect and humane treatment partly because of this very long established partnership.

The middle is being ignored here.

Some of you want the death penalty for this obviously unstable woman.
Some of you have a "Its a dog, who cares?" attitude.

Its a crime, yes. I have no problem with it. I just don't think it should have the same classification as child molestation, DUI, assault and batter of another human, dissemination of child pornography, etc. (all third degree felonies)

Put the woman in jail for 6 months, get her some help and move on.

You are assuming (and wrongly I might add) that all felonies are created equal.

Let's say you count out the "partnership" or any emotional ties. Even animals that we hunt for sport have certain regulations on how they can be killed.

Did I call it or what, I think right on the previous page, I posted:

I know people like to use the old cliche, if your dog and a total stranger were hanging off a cliff and you could only save 1 blah blah blah...whoever says they'd choose their dogs should be evaluated for mental issues..and I'm not saying that sacrastically, it's a totally absurd idea

Admittedly, I think, in this silly hypothetical, 99.9% of the people who say this would never actually do that...but it's that .1% who may want to be evaluated, serious issues there.

I understand there are differences. But killing your own dog should not be in the same stratosphere as child molestation. Yet they are both classified third degree felonies.

Sorry, I think that's screwed up. I also think people advocating for killing this woman or people that would shoot a human 11/10 times over a dog are screwed up as well.

I love my dog. She brings me great joy, but Imagi deo. My dog is way more important to me than some humans, but you would have to have some serious mental problems if you would kill another human over a dog.

3rd degree felonies in what state? You realize that every single state in the union has their own classification of crimes, right?

No I'm not ok with torturing or cruel living conditions for any animal, regardless of the intent to eat it, keep it as a pet, etc.

You'd think as humans with higher level thought processes, we would see how messed up inflicting intentional pain on another animal is, but in my experience it's been just the opposite.
