No I'm not ok with torturing or cruel living conditions for any animal, regardless of the intent to eat it, keep it as a pet, etc.

You'd think as humans with higher level thought processes, we would see how messed up inflicting intentional pain on another animal is, but in my experience it's been just the opposite.

Someone needs to make a list of which animals it is OK to kill and eat. And which animals will land you in prison if you harm.

Hey, I shot this deer yesterday...Awesome! You the man.

Hey, I shot this dog yesterday...frick you! I hope you burn in hell

You don't see a difference between hunting an animal that is in the wild, probably for food, and drowning a domesticated pet for convenience or entertainment?

This thread just proves white people's obsession with dogs.

They won't forgive Michael Vick for fighting dogs even though he did the right thing and served his time to society and even donates his checks to animal rights' charities. But, they don't even bat a fricking eye at any of the athletes who abandon their kids or wives, which is worse than fighting a dog IMO. For example, not a single frick given that Brady pretty much left his bitch when she was pregnant. Not a single frick given when Vilma was arrested for reckless driving and resisting arrest which could harm HUMANS or when Jammal Brown beat his wife. But, Vick fights a dog and the whole white world loses their fricking mind.

i think it was more the hanging, drowning, and electrocuting of the dogs that people had a problem with...

concur,I think it's disgusting the way those athletes go around spreading the seed with so many baby mamas that they don't even know how many kids they have, and in some cases don't even know of kids they have

Who is this "they" you're referring to? Oh it's that nonexistent collective of people that you're using to support your weak argument. How do you know "they" didn't care?

If you kill someone else's dog then you should be charged with destruction of property or something.

A dog is an animal... no matter how much you think it's a family member, it's not.

Of course there is a difference. But not always as clear cut as your example. Quite often the line is much smaller.

Frequently I find that people justify based off of purpose and/or intention. Plus cuteness factor.

Can't kill your own dog out of convenience, but it's fine to kill wild hogs for convenience.

A felony charge and some jail time is appropriate here, but some of you people really need to calm down.

And you are an idiot in this situation. And no matter how much you think you aren't, you still are.
