Keep Cox for internet and switch to DirecTV for shows.
What I have but considering Uverse for internet. I get state employee discount so it would be much less expensive than the 62.99 I pay for cox.

Sorry. I have communist state cable. Cox can suck me.

MrBiriwa, did a search on Roku an it really does look interesting. Curious though on what regular tv programming it will stream. Would I still be able to see Bravo, HGTV, QVC? I know sounds lame, but.... Thanks

$20 a month I wouldn't mind so much. I had a 2 year contract with them and it obviously just expired because my internet, tv, and phone combined went up $54 on my last bill. I think I'll also give them a call. Thats crazy.

I have RCn here in Chicago, and their customer service is as shitty as Comcast and FiOS, but their packages are much more a la carte, unfortunately I have to buy additional packages BC my favorite chanels are in them, thus negating the cost savings, but I do like the trend and options it affords.
I doubt it'll get too widespread though, groups like ABC Disney are notorious for forcing things like Longhorn network on providers as a package with ESPN, pay for both or lose both.

Cut the cord. You won't miss it. Everything you want is on the internet if you do a little sleuthing.

Cox is by far the best intenet I'm terms of speed in south LA.
Complete joke! Although I understand you may not be fiber ready in BR. Fiber craps on Cox and costs less.

I don't think Roku gets Bravo, at least not that I've seen. I bought a Roku 3 about a week ago and am trying to get the wife comfortable enough with it to completely cut the cord. Her biggest sticking point is Bravo. I see they have most of the episodes on Amazon Prime but I am not sure if you have to pay for them or not, or how long they take to show up on Amazon Prime. HGTV on the other hand has a hidden channel on Roku. You simply log in to your online Roku account and type in the code "HGTV". Not sure about QVC.

it's a two year contract
What's another 2?
They tried to raise mine. Called and locked in a rate that was $10 cheaper than my original amount. So they got rid of $30/mo. Same services

Cox trying to make up for increased data usage that they don't bill for? Husband got email that we were way over on data usage. Cox site says they don't bill for the excess but can move up to a larger package. How stupid is that? I didn't know there was a limit, but that's me. I can't believe we pay $200+/month for cable tv and internet.
This will be the next great consumer battle.
"Data limits" are a farce invented by providers to make more money off of consumers. Long have lagged behind technology and are paying the price.
Sadly, the wireless providers are probably our best hope.

Dropped Cox last night after they wouldn't drop back down to what I was paying ($120)
Internet is now a slower speed and still more than I was paying but DirecTV will be here on Thursday afternoon and I'll save $20 per month for the first year plus the $100 Visa card they'll send me and I'll only be paying about $20 more than I have been with Cox.
Plus their DVR seemed like it was from the 90's. Only held 10 shows and I'm getting genies from DirecTV.

Cable and Internet are becoming the new monopolies. We pay more than Europe for much shittier service because of the lack of competition.
What is sad is that South Korea has Internet that makes our average cable service look like early 90s AOL dial up

Did you call and get that price? when I do that online it is more expensive than 133 dollars.
I have the same exact plan with Uverse. I got the u450 with 3 HD DVR boxes and Wifi for $133/month. Its much better than cox and cheaper. One of my favorite features is when the Emergency Alert System kicks on for its weekly test you can just press a button and skip it. I know it seems trivial but I hate when I miss something because of the EAS test. But bottom line is I get more channels and an extra dvr for $40 less than I paid with cox.

For those looking to leave Cox for Dish/Direct TV, check around before purchasing directly from Dish or Direct TV. For example, last month if you purchased your Direct TV through Sams you received all of the same deals as you would from Direct TV plus a $200 Sams gift card for signing up through them. There was a kiosk in the mall for Dish that would give you all of the Dish promotions, plus a Saints Jersey (that they tried to convince me was worth $250) and a gift card to the Saints store online. May be worth checking out just for a little something extra.

You are absolutely correct.
Cox is horrible and it will only get worse.

I was paying ~$150 per month for phone, tv, and internet. I was under a 2 year contract which obviously expired. My last bill was $202. I just called and complained about the amount of the increase, so they gave me a one year contract for $175. It isn't a big decrease but it's a little better then what it was. I'm still going to explore other options though.

Do it. Their price is ridiculous. Really pissing me off about the internet price too right now.
~$50 for 5MB/s compared to the ~$35 I was paying for 25MB/s is absurd.
