re: your "system" for tracking your budget - LSUengineer'12
I use excel as well. Meticulously keeping up with it. I update/check it 4 days a week. Extremely easy. I also felt Mint categorized things weirdly. I may start using Mint again to compliment my spreadsheet. I just like the set up of it.. ...

He's a rarity, I can tell you. I graduated Civil in '12 (obviously), and the highest I heard from most people I graduated with was 62k starting out. Me and my buddies almost shite ourselves. ETA: It just comes along with the Title. A CE has little to no value until he receives his P.E. If...

re: Break it down - your finances - LSUengineer'12
Well I can't speak on your schedule. Just on my friend's who have been out of school for 2-3 years. They'll eventually move into an office/manager role, still be making bank and improve their lifestyles. But for now, I will continue to make myself feel better about making a shitty comparable salary ...

I wouldn't want to swap lifestyles with my O&G buddies. I'll stick to my 4-10's. They miss a lot of shite being on the rigs 2-3weeks at a time....

re: Break it down - your finances - LSUengineer'12
I appreciate it. We just have an understanding and common financial goals. I think finances are more about planning than anything. Can't reach a goal if you don't have a plan to get there. Hoping we can stick to it....

re: Break it down - your finances - LSUengineer'12
Me and My fiance' clear exactly the same amount as you and the wife each month. Right around $6k. We, luckily, see very eye to eye on finances. I made a budget spreadsheet for us, and we listed every expense we could think of and assigned a biweekly figure to it. I look at it almost 4-5 days a...

re: Break it down - your finances - LSUengineer'12
I can absolutely believe most of the salaries posted. I'm civil and I know I make low on the Engineering Salary totem pole. My buddy came out of LSU Making 100k/year in houston as a Petroleum Engineer (I saw his offer letter. It included a $17k signing bonus). Another one making 89k for Chevron as...
