How does Internet compare with Cox, AT&T and Eatel?

Bout to drop cox cable, keep internet and get a HD antenna. Mom lives next door so I can watch all my cable events like LSU on ESPN. We watch more Netflix, amazon prime then tv almost. The only thing that is going to be tough is no hbo or hbogo.com.

I've never gotten a data usage notice. I'm not downloading a ton of content though.

I've also been hearing a lot of people getting notices about "going over their limit." I've never received anything like that and blows my mind how you could. You pay for a speed, not a data amount.

It's a trap! lol They are slowly acclimating you to the terms of "data usage" then in the near future they will announce a charge for going over and acting like they've just been nice letting you slide for years....and most idiots will be relieved to hear they aren't getting backcharged.

I would imagine it's buried in the language of the new contract you agree to that you NEVER SEE.

I have been fighting with cox for a few weeks now. I have spent countless hours on the phone arguing. My latest bill was over charged $70.00. I am going to switch as soon as I get my bill straight. I could go on and on and on. How can a company be so bad?

I can't get Uverse and I hate satellite so Cox is my ony option now. We are moving soon so hopefully that'll change. I can't wait to cancel.

Cox is by far the best intenet I'm terms of speed in south LA. That's the only reason I don't switch.

Otherwise our data caps get smaller yearly and we pay more. It's a load of bullshite, but like others have said, they have you by the balls.

Oh but they did give us a "free" speed boost. Losers.

Cox increased our internet prices and subsequently began to throttle our internet speed

Where I live in virginia, only option is cox. Can't have satellite. My 1 year price lock just expired and rates went up. New bill next month is 60$ more but they had the courtesy to mail me an offer for free hbo for a year as the reach around I guess.

I'm stuck in a monopoly. Can't cancel because I need espn to watch lsu games

Nothing will change until people start dropping cable in mass. The COX/Comcast/Time Warner execs are sitting back and laughing at us knowing that all we'll do is complain.

This. Cox is one of the few companies that doesn't throttle Netflix.

Keep Cox for internet and switch to DirecTV for shows.

I signed the contract last year (over the phone). They said if I signed my rate would stay the same each month. ($155 for cable/internet). The 2nd month of my contract my bill went up $20. I called to complain. Apparently somewhere in the fine print it said that certain fees may increase even with a signed contract.

Are all of Cox's packages contract now? I've been contemplating switching to UVerse(internet) to try it out knowing that I have Cox to fall back on. UVerse is so much cheaper.

Exactly what I did.

Now since I only have internet with Cox they can't feed me bullshite about bundle discounts falling off (which they told me threw separate times.) All I have is internet with them so there's zero room for playing games.
