It was sarcasm. You must be on drugs at work.

If someone brought it to the Supreme Court to fight probably.

Don't some Baptist schools make teachers sign something saying they will not drink alcohol under penalty of termination.

I know an ex girlfriends mom held this job and had to do that.

They sign a farther-reaching agreement at some catholic schools. Basically says "don't do shite the Church won't approve of or you're canned."

You can get fired for leaving your spouse and dating someone else before divorce for example.
That has happened factually.

What if it is more effective for the individual than a pharmaceutical is?

I go though periods of severe insominia. I find if I take one hit of high grade marijuana a couple hours before bedtime I sleep the whole night with no problems. In the past I was prescribed Ambien. Which do you think is safer? Which do you think has less side effects?

Hell idk. He was just laughing about it b/c this company office has THC suckers in the lobby and his boss routinely smoked a hash oil vape after lunch.

Small IT shops tend to be lax on that shite everywhere in the country and do what they want as long as they get/keep clients.

I actually do. They don't drink or smoke (their choice, I don't care) but I do.

You can get kicked out of BYU for having premarital sex.

Remember their star basketball player that was kicked off the team the day before the NCAA tournament for makin sexy time with his lady?

The reason this suit was bright to court, is because Colorado's constitution (or a law) states that an employee cannot be fired for a legal activity while off the clock. So the court sided with Dish Network, because it is illegal on the federal level.

A bill was introduced by Rand Paul and a couple democrats to change the schedule and provide worker protections. I'm skeptical that it will pass this round. But it's only be a couple years before it does happen.

He's an absolute buffoon if he believes what he wrote in that post. I think he was trolling.

So when will someone bring up a law for firing someone for "off duty" alcohol use?

This was the point of my first post in this thread. People were freaked out about my comment.

Its a stupid law, but the more important subject is why did Colorado start with such high taxes. This is not setting a good example for other states to follow.

If you really think this then you're almost too stupid to breathe.

For many people pot is a medicine. It's a plant-derived medicine that works better than pharmaceuticals and with almost no side effects or addiction worries. Thus, for some, it's akin to firing someone for use of any other medication. Obviously a pilot etc can't be under the influence of any substance beside caffeine, but there's little reason to treat pot differently than other meds or alcohol.

Only in some instances. If you work in a hazardous environment, like say a refinery or law enforcement they can legally tell you that you can't come to work while under the use of that medication. They may work with you for light duty or something but that's only for a limited time.

Any time a thread on the MSB pops up about an athlete getting caught with marijuana and receiving a suspension there is always a conga line of comments that say something along the lines of "Who cares? Marijuana should be legal, people shouldn't be punished for it, its better for you than alcohol..." and forgetting to realize that the law and being in compliance with the rules of a sports organization/team are two different things.

Be the childish retarded pot prohibition is the reason organizations have rules against it.

My CEO clients (companies with over 150 employees) have removed random drug screens (pre employment only) cause they all smoke and don't want to be called in for a random.

It's really not that bad anymore, because the recreational supply had skyrocketed over the last 6 months. You can still buy an ounce in Colorado REC for $100-120, though much more at done of the trendier dispensaries. So it's so a third of the price as in the south, and much stronger and FRESHER!

The bottle clearly states, "do not operate heavy machinery."

That pretty much rules out driving a car much less anything else.
