Sure. I'm in software. If you really need something, don't send an email. Call me.

You would lose good employees like that. Good employees are very, hard to find and usually don't stand for petty shite like that.

I remember one time my boss saw that I had 3600 unread emails. I told him I knew which ones were important. Some people think it's their job to email you all day long.

I had someone cc 6-7 extra people yesterday to tell me a key was ready for pickup.

I'm not sure what level of hell her desk was located in but I'm glad I could pickup my new key from the front desk.

And yes, I have coworkers like this. Very annoying. I'm very diligent with my email. 90% of our job consists of emailing

I don't understand people with 1k emails in their inbox. I don't know how they work like that

Do you hate yourself?

Serious Question...

Has anyone ever tagged an email

Sent from my phone. on purpose because you do not have the time to respond with a long reply?

I get so busy and people email me needing answers, etc... Even though I am at my desk using a computer, I purposely add "Sent from my phone" so that they think I am using a phone and most cell phone replies are always short so the long winded answer they need is not there because I sent it from my phone and they think I am out at a job site or something.

It works beautifully when you don;t feel like or have the time to write a long email

That's really an ignorant practice

You know you can tell when someone uses an iPhone because it changes the entire format of the email

If a short answer will suffice then there's no need to be long winded. It's like the annoying guy who talks in meetings just to hear himself talk

I get so much during the day that if I focused on each email as it came in, I'd never be able to type out a response to the previous. I prioritize and admit I forget about some, But I at least read them all.

I don't use iPhone - That's Fisher Price. I use Moto Turbo and you are completely wrong with what you are saying.

It has saved me a ton of times because it lets the person who is needing answers know that a) I am busy as frick but b) I still have time to tickle their balls even though I am busy as frick

It still sounds silly to me. Kind of passive aggressive

Why don't you just say "I'm busy right now. I'll get back to you asap"? Or "give me a little bit to look into this"

I read iPhone instead of phone. So good for you that your phone doesn't do this

Though I've never seem an email say sent from my phone that didn't change the format

That's the thing.. In my profession, I need a little more time to get the answers that are needed and the client does not understand or have the patience to wait.

When I put the Sent from my Phone. tag on there, it buys me a little more time to get them the answer they need.

Just make it mandatory that they must check their email every hour.

Granted, they won't check their email every hour, but if you can get them to check it every hour and a half or so, then you are winning.

That's ridiculous from just about every role in any company. Every hour? Are you just sitting behind your desk at all times blowing spit bubbles? No one will have time to check their email every hour of the day. The average employee only needs to really check their email twice a day. Once at 9:00 and once at 3:00, and maybe 30 minutes before they leave work for good measure. Most competent employees are out doing shite and in some sort of meeting in order to check their email every damn hour.

I think most time management courses teach people to only check emails at certain times. Email is a big distraction. Email is not instant messaging.

Exactly. If you have something that needs to be done immediately and not within 48 hours, either go to the person directly or call them. Email should never be used in emergencies or when time is of the essence.
