I usually spend a couple hours under the Jeep when I do, so the short amount of time changing the oil is negligible.

Me too. I don't jack my car up just to change the oil. I'm usually doing other things in addition to to changing the oil. It takes all of five minutes to unscrew the drain and change the filter. Only hassle is driving across town to dispose of the oil.

Extremely simple and cheap to change it yourself if you're remotely capable.

Cool man. My labor is worth more than $10 an hour, so I'll just be a girly man. At least I'm logical.

I had that philosophy at one time. Old age is the great equalizer however.

No, he's right. The measure of man is if he changes his own oil or not.

I'll make a note of this going forward.

I have changed my own oil for 40 years on every vehicle until my sons started driving the smaller Jap cars. Hard to get under those things. Therefore, I get coupons for discounts at the Nissan place and they now service almost everything we drive. hence, I only change oil in my Yukon on the reg.

It doesn't. Look at all the jobs lost and the negative impact on the economy if everyone changed their own oil.

That's my approach anyway.

Not for me. Mine is very easy to change. I don't even need to jack up the car. Just stick my head under the front bumper and I can easily reach the drain plug and filter. Let it drain into a baking pan, put the plug back in, and put fresh oil in. I save so much time and money. But it really depends on the car.

People who over dramatize everything are what's wrong with the world.

Yeah that's a broad statement and 100% BS. Know what you can do and can't and price your time and effort.

I'm a licensed plumber. I would not rewire my own house.

We all just sell our time anyway.price your frick off time and go from there.
