You are obviously huge but you don't look 400lb+ to, more like 300lbs unless you are really tall. Anyways, congrats on the surgery and good luck going forward!

Yeah, I do have to admit, I was expecting much worse, like someone that had to have a scooter, which I absolutely despise those people. You look like you can still get around at least.

Last week I went to Double Decker in Oxford, and I shite you not I saw a woman that probably weighed 700 pounds. Her thigh was literally wider than my waist. The fat frick was, I shite you not, reaching into a box of cheese nips and doing a sarcastic "honk, honk" in order to get people out of her lane. Her rolling chair was half the size of a fricking couch, and there's no way she would be able to fit in a standard Lazyboy recliner. Its a person who should quite literally be put out of her misery.

This is very similar how she looked and weighed:

Proud of surgery to correct a problem that he created?
I'm willing to bet surgery is only a short term fix because if he was serious he would have taken the steps to lose weight before surgery. Surgery is only cosmetic

Bro, OP is just smart.

Best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup.

Now think about how amazing Folgers on your chest must be.

Mind boggling.

Some truth to this, but past a certain age it becomes tougher and tougher to lose weight. Especially it other factors exist. I applaud the risk to undergo the surgery. It is doing something. Just don't forget CD that diet in exercise will have to be another lifestyle change or this too will fail. And have you been tested/treated for sleep apnea?

Tougher doesn't mean impossible and for him at 400 that means avoiding fast food and keeping his fingers out of the chip bags. Surgery is for people looking for the quick fix as I'm willing to bet most don't keep it off because they keep the same shitty eating habits and lack the motivation to exercise.

Where is Orko, he did this about 2 years ago, let's see how it's working for him

I've yet to meet a single person who has regretted having gastric sleeve and isn't healthier than before. I'm sure those cases exist, but they must be the extreme minority.

20% of people who have the procedure gain all of their weight back
Most lose 60-70% of their original weight and then gain up to 30% back

quote:

Ahrendt had gallstones — a condition shown to strike about 40 percent of gastric-bypass patients — and would need another surgery to remove them. Ironically, gallstones are a sign of weight loss success, because rapid weight loss crystallizes cholesterol in the gallbladder, forming hard deposits. They are so common that many bariatric surgeons remove the gallbladder during the initial surgery.

quote:

Eighty-five percent of people who have gastric bypass experience “dumping syndrome,” when sugary, undigested foods empty directly into the small intestine, causing nausea, light-headedness, cramping and gas.

Gastric sleeve =/= Gastric bypass

The OP is not having bypass surgery

Best of luck in your journey to better health.

My mother-in-law had the sleeve surgery about 7 years ago. She dropped 100 lbs pretty quick but she did a terrible job of adjusting her lifestyle and learning how/committing to eating right and exercising.

While she hasn't gained it all back, she has put back on probably 30-40% of the weight. Just because your stomach size is limited, you can't fill that small space with Twinkies and ice cream (my MIL's method).

Again, good luck! You will definitely see how much that extra weight was limiting you when it's gone.

that's horse crap. My dad is 61 and has lost over 40 lbs recently.

There is one universal truth to weight. If you eat less calories than you burn in a day, you will lose weight. Eating less doesn't get tougher as you get older. You just have to have will power.

I feel sorry for people that can't control their weight (I was one for a short time). I can't imagine that you can be very successful at many things if you lack the self-control to not eat 3000+ calories a day.
