Cable companies are absolutely terrible with regards to customer service

Usually once you get past installation you're good, but god forbid they give you a dud cable box, or god knows what. Just moved (cannot have direct tv or uverse, not sure I want either with ATT at the helm) and I spent 6 god damn hours on the phone. I did the installation because they never placed my original order. Had to spend god knows how much time getting my original installation date back. The rep for my apartment complex hooked me up, but I was late with traffic. They left everything for me to install, one of the boxes was a dud and that took forever to figure out. Had to go and exchange it. Now that all of the bullshite is out of the way, I quite prefer the actual service to direct tv which I had for almost 10 years. The prices are out of this world though

I can understand why cable companies don't want a la carte pricing. But with online streaming, those days can be bypassed.

Don't forget who owns the fiber or copper getting that bandwidth to your home...probably the cable provider. If they don't get you one way, they'll get you another.

time warner

if you believe your headaches will end with AT&T, think again...it will be a fricking hour just to get through the automated voice system, and then they'll take all of you information, taking forever, only to send you to someone else where you will give all of that information again, for no fricking reason. Hope the call doesn't drop...repeat process

I might be willing to give U-Verse a try, but holy shite do I hate AT&T. The logo itself inspires pure rage when I see it.

I will go against the grain with my post. I've had Cox for decades and they've been very reliable.

I had a self-induced problem with my internet last week. I was on hold for 30 minutes before getting an agent on the line. But, they were able to id and resolve quickly.

My complaint would be the high rates, but I fixed that too. They give me low rates for two years if I agree to the contract term, which I do. Then after two years, I go in and renegotiate.

The last time, they asked what are you using and what would you like? I told them what I needed and the manager gave me a great number. And, told me to come see her again in two years and thanked me for being a long-term customer.

BTW my rates went from $200 to $170 to $137 for same services. Competition is good.

when I call any type of provider, I always start off by saying, "I just want to let you know that this call may be recorded for quality assurance"...kinda fricks with them for a minute or two...

You actually think this is a good price for TV/Internet. That proves how absurd all of this bullshite is. $137 a month to watch TV and have internet service. Congrats on spending $1,644 a year on cable.

want to know the worst?

I cancelled cox years ago. I did it on the phone, was told "A technician will come and get your box".

A few days later a tech came and got my HDDVR box.

And that was it.
A few YEARS later a collection company calls.
I owe COX $430 for not turning in a BOX.
I try and fight it but fail, and am forced to pay for a Box I turned in.

so to get them back, I taught everyone I knew with a Cable modem and no cableTV how to get free cable.
So F-YOu cox.

frick. We are paying $220 a month for dvr, hbo, show time, internet, and phone. Been thinking about cutting back or just cutting cox in general. I fricking hate waiting on the phone. Probably keep paying $220

Buy a DVR and an HDTV antenna. Then pay monthly -
high speed internet - $50
hbo go - $10-15
hulu+ - $8
