Canceling Cox. Purposefully Placing Customers on Hold

I have sat on the line 30+ minutes every day this week trying to cancel my TV service. I believe they're doing this on purpose trying to get people to hang up.
Every day. I've tried Morning. Afternoon. It doesn't matter. This must be company policy.

They will offer you like $40 off a month for a year to stay. I call to cancel every year.

they just have terrible customer service and service all together.

Not surprising... I always get a hood rat on the line when I call that TPOS company.

Tell them you want to add extra service, then when you get a human, tell them you're canceling.

they want you to wait for the people who are specifically trained to haggle with you and get you to stay
I cancelled two weeks ago, and I've heard of a few others doing so as well, so I they might be busy

GoT is over. HBO is definitely getting cut. There really is nothing I want to watch on TV. They'd have to cut it down a whole whole bunch for me to keep this.
I pay $67 at the apartment. I'd have to go down to about $30 with HBO. Ain't gonna happen.

Seriously...they flat out lied to me about a service I negotiated and I told them I would report them. They didn't care so I went ahead and filed a complaint. 2 days later they called me, apologized and honored the commitment.
Hold them accountable. They are the worst.

They will bitch and moan and haggle with you and keep you on the phone for 30 min trying to bargain with you. I finally had to say "if you say one more thing other than 'yes sir' or 'no problem' I will cancel my service right here and you will never get another cent from me". I cancelled TV and am going with just internet and will get an HD antenna and go the roku/hulu/netflix route. Mr. Pussinboots is sitting here criticizing my decision and just generally downplaying what Im trying to do. I finally said, "I pay over $1800 a yr for 250 bullshite TV channels that I dont even watch and I could pay around $500 a yr by going the route that Ive chosen. The ONLY thing I will miss is Monday Night Football. Would you pay $1300 a yr for Monday Night Footbal? I didnt think so."

I don't get the hate for Cox. I've had them for over 10 years and I've never had any problems. The few times I had to call them to add tiers or cancel tiers it was no problem.

yeah, they force you to pay for the 100+ package before you can have anything you actually want, it's not worth it
they're starting to feel the uverse and cut-the-cord heat after so much time being the only option

So thankful I don't have to deal with their bullshite anymore
Their customer service is worst than burger kings

I canceled a few weeks ago, and I definitely thought that I was out on hold for an unnecessarily long time. It isn't as bad as you're describing though. You just gotta be patient.

I have internet and cable built into my rent at the place I'm at now, but I won't be getting cox at my house. It's a ridiculous waste of money. All you really need is an Apple TV, an iOS device, and internet to get pretty much everything you want.

The issues come up when you try to negotiate a lower price (which is totally worth It even with their BS)
But then they always end up voiding whatever you agreed to without notice prior to the agreed upon term. And the notes from your call where you negotiated a better price for a year always magically disappear.

Press "2" to speak to someone in Spanish. No wait time. The Spanish-speaking customer service persons speak English as well.

I had Cox services for years. (TV, phone and internet.) Tried to upgrade my TV services and all they wanted was more money. Last November my bill went up and that was the last straw. Had UVerse installed in December and took the crappy Cox receiver/DVR and modem to their office in person and told them to cancel me then.

*HELP ME OUT HERE*
I do not want to cancel my Cox tv, but I would love a discount.
Should I call them and say I want to cancel it, and see what they say?
How much of an offer (from them) to stay would be a good one?
Right now I pay about $70 a month for the Digital Cable + Sports & Info package.

Cancelled yesterday. They only had me on hold for 15 minutes or so. That was about 3pm.
