10 just sounds better. Its anywhere from 5-15 tbh. I just chose a good sounding number for my point in that thread

I am the opposite. I hate waking up and getting out of my comfortable bed early before work. It takes me over an hour for my mind to wake up even when I drink coffee the minute I get up. I get plenty of sleep, but it doesn't help.

I am the same way now. However, I use to be a pretty decent morning person, but ever since starting college, it takes everything in my body to get out of bed for work.

Non-morning person" is just a fancy term for lazy. Stop being lazy and you will become a morning person.

Ok, so people that work late shifts are lazy?

I'm sorry if I'm getting home from work at 2 am I'm not waking up at 5am, even though I have had to sometimes.

You either have apnea, restless legs, or you could be waking up in Delta sleep which causes the grogginess. Delta is the deepest sleep. Ever had someone tell you they woke you up and told you something, but you have no clue what they're talking about at all? Yeah they woke you up in Delta. Takes typically 5+ minutes to fully wake up from this stage.

I'm an awful morning person. I don't mind getting up early, but I prefer not interacting with anyone for a few hours. It's more so on week days. I just hate dealing with people at work so early into my day.

I have never been a morning person. In the winter, it's painful to get out of bed. But, I have noticed that setting my alarm for 20 minutes before I really need to get up helps. I just listen to the news for a bit. Also, forcing myself into the routine of having a cup of coffee and some food helps. I used to never eat in the morning.

My natural pattern of wake/sleep is to stay up till about 3am- dawn then go get in bed and sleep a few hours. Then i get up and am awake with my husband for lunch - although often i am up at dawn when he wakes up so I with him at breakfast.

true story - you have to wake up pretty early if you are racing bicycles because weekend races are anywhere from 1-3 hours away. also most races start at 7am (or earlier) so getting up at 3:30 or 4am became commonplace for me for awhile.

however, one time i had to work (site deploy) on a friday night so my son and i went to oak ridge (yep the nuclear city) the night before and booked a room and i settled in on my laptop.

i was up until about 3am on the deploy, slept for maybe 2 hours and then put on my spandex and drove 30 minutes to the start of the race.

everything was fine until about an hour into the road race when i NODDED OFF on my bike.

luckily someone yelled as i was veering off the road and woke me up before i took out other riders or crashed.

It's also why kids are so hard to wake up. Most of their sleep is Delta. It diminishes as we get older.

Exercise can really help give you that little extra energy. When I'm working our regularly, I naturally wake up earlier and more refreshed.

I have a rough time getting out of bed, but once I'm up I'm usually fine. I get up between 4 and 5 everyday for work. I do end up getting pretty tired at around 9 though and am about to pass out by 10. I started working out in the morning at 4 and that really did help. I could go without caffeine on those days. I've had time in the afternoon to workout recently and it has really made it hard to go back to the 4 a.m. workouts though.

I used to be able to sleep all day. On Memorial Day, I woke up and fed my son at 6, but went back to bed and woke up at 9:45. It felt like I had slept until 2 in the afternoon. I can't imagine how I used to sleep all day like that. A 7:30 class was the worst before, now I feel like I'm late if I show up to work at 7:30. Getting old is weird.

Howard Stern has the ultimate tip to get up early

When the alarm clock goes off, immediately sit up and stretch your arms out over your head

No snooze, just sit up and stretch

He has been getting up at 4AM for 30+ years

Jeezus. If you are out of college and sleep 'till 9:30, regardless of the conditions, you are a lazy arse. No matter the time you go to sleep or how much you drank. Suck it up, Buttercup. You're an adult. If you sleep that damn late you are a disgrace. Deal with the hangover, get your lazy arse out of bed and get going. Or, maybe mommy should tuck you in bed after a few beers and you should pawn off the serious drinking of alcohol or wine that adults handle.
