The grammar police work for free. The state police work for pay.

More cops are needed. I won't deny that.

But after watching that press conference, SWB sure does make it clear every time she opens her mouth just how out of her league and naïve she really is.

Crime is a cultural problem in this city. If she really wanted to do more than put a band aid on the problem she would encourage (3) things from the NBR youth:

1: Graduate High School.

2: Don't have any kids out of wed lock.

3: Get a job and keep it.

If ever there were an opportunity for a black female leader to encourage people of similar backgrounds to break the cycle and they actually listen, this is it.

Sadly, she is missing the mark.

You got it....and I wonder what thugs and drug dealers have Gary and Silky on the payroll to keep up the good fight to keep the status quo.

Oh shite, Dabadie just had a follow up conference. For those who missed it:

Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No.

If she is all up in arms about how BRPD is smoking criminals, wait til LSP starts dropping them like flies...then what is she going to do? LSP boys don't play...They won't play these games SWB wants to play...

Well, not to mention they won't really answer to her or BRPD. She's looking for a lapdog in her new police chief so handing over authority to an independent department of which she has no control over is going to drive her nuts - especially if there is another controversial cop-involved shooting.

The shortage had its roots under Kip.

It has gotten worse under Broome for the reasons you listed.

I thought fixing all the broken street lights & cleaning up all the blight in certain parts of town was the answer.

Well I'll agree with you there, I'm sure the shortfall started with Kip, but he would loosely defend BRPD to a point....SWB makes no bones about rolling over BRPD in a moments notice....doesn't even hide it...No one wants to work like that. They fear for their lives, they have to think way longer than they should about making decisions....they will either be killed, prosecuted or do nothing at all and do their time! Who is really in prison here? frick em, I don't blame them at all....let the coroner rent refrigerated trucks to stack the bodies....this will never change....name one positive change she's made....

Agreed, no question about it.

Broome has opened the floodgates by undermining the cops.

Best of luck driving BR straight into the gutter, then getting the rest of the state to start picking up the tab to cover her arse.

I personally wish they wouldn't...I wish the state would tell her to clean her own mess up....What I really wish is the citizens of Baton Rouge would get enough and get her dead arse out of office but sadly enough, it will likely take a heinous crime to occur, before it really starts to hit Home for some people....Then the outrage would surface and action taken....it's a shame that has to happen before something is done about her...For all of his faults and antics....and he was perfect by no means....I sure do miss Kip

Merge the BRPD with the sheriffs dept.
The sheriff is elected and main job besides tax collection is law enforcement.

This would eliminate duplicate office positions and put these people back into uniform patrol.

Do you need officers with badges over the motor pool when you can have a shop supervisor without a badge handling this position?

Does the sheriff do the same thing?
If so how many officers could be put back into uniform patrol with eliminating these positions.

Then you look all over the dept for positions like this where you can put officers back on the street.

You have guys that want to get promoted after two years in uniform patrol to get off the streets. This really leaves you with officers with very little experience on the street. They should not even be considered for promotion until they have 5 yrs under their belt. This keeps more experienced officers on the streets to mentor the younger officers. The officers will also be better trained to be able to excel in their promotion.

If you merge the offices you can eliminate duplicate desk jobs and put those officers back out on patrol also.

The goal would be to take the resources you have between both depts and maximize them being on the streets or active in the community.

I would have
NW EBRP district
(Zachary, Baler. areas around port Hudson)

NE EBRP district
(Hwy 19 East Pride, Central, Brownsfield area)

West Central district
(Scotlandville NBR)

Downtown
(Business district, midcity South BR to LSU)

LSU district (LSU)

Central
(Airline/ Florida Blvd Tara, Broadmore, Sherwood, villa del ray, Monticello, Red Oaks)

East Florida District
( Belaire, 1/2 Sherwood, River oaks, Stevendale, O'Neal )

Southeast district
Butts up to Florida East district on North to I-10 and Ascension Parish line)

Southwest district
I-10 West to Miss River South of LSU

Each district has
Motor pool
Temp holding cells
Traffic and uniform patrol
Heliport
Room where supervisors can see where officers vehicles are incase they need to move people around

Then I would wear dress uniform with dress hat as a sign of respect for the community I serve and make visit to each district without notice more as motivation and see where we could make shift assignment changes.
