Yesterday I saw a YouTube video of a cop pulling a gun on a college student picking up trash outside his apt/dorm.
Cop was allowed to resign and collect almost $70k in vacation and sick pay. The kid he violated was paid $125k to go away.

I think you are strawmannig only a small part of one of my posts. But I will assume my perception is wrong and you intend to ask for a clarification.
Perceived threat affects the amount of force you can reasonably defend using. If you attempt to break into my home and you have a gun I can shoot you dead if you are 12 years old because your gun creates an immediate threat to my identity.
In that scenario I can also defend lethal force if you are a man or I am a woman (or frail man). But most people would feel less convinced lethal force was necessary if I was a large man and I shot an unarmed woman or small child.
The amount of force most people will allow depends on what a reasonable person would find justifiable. If a man with a machete is calmly clearing brush with no complaints of a crazy man threatening people in the region? Then no reasonable person would assume he was an imminent threat and a just legal system would put that cop in jail 99 of 100 times.
The guy who ended up dead appears to have put himself at risk. That doesn't automatically put the cop in the clear but it at least muddied the water.

I would too. He may be a hardened criminal, he may be a guy clearing his land.
All I know is when i'm on my land doing work, it takes a lot to distract me. COP better introduce himself very well...

The guy with the ax had excellent hearing? or did he hear dra da hax and wonder what the guy with the gun was saying.
Worst case: dude had been using a chain saw and still had ear plugs in. Was the policeman sure that hadn't been happening?
That's a long way to throw an ax accurately (or a piece of wood, for that matter).

The answer has been posted multiple times already.

At best he was a tenant, never owned the property though.

You probably don't have armed arguments with the neighbors at 4 am nor start vandalizing their homes at 11:30.

If a cop tells me about four times to put down a deadly weapon I'm holding while he is pointing a gun at me... I feel like he gave me pretty fair warning before shooting me.
Especially if I tell him "No", "Listen, man", etc indicating I heard him.

But at that moment all that matters is your life. Put the ax down and the cop probably doesn't shoot.
Do you really want to live in a country where this is the suggested response, not that THE frickING COP DOESNT frickING SHOOT FOR NO frickING GOOD REASON?

He had a hatchet, the cop had a gun.
The deadly weapon charge here only goes one way.

“1031 shots fired!”…said with a self congratulatory tone….freaking murdering cop!

Congrats on being a bootlicker. It's not justifiable for cops to just run up on people and start shooting. Most any piece of lawn equipment could be considered a deadly weapon. A fricking pencil can be a deadly weapon.
I'm not talking about this particular case. Your line of thinking in regards to cops is completely wrong. It's not justifiable to shoot someone who poses no threat. It doesn't matter if he told you once twice or a hundred times. You don't just get to shoot somebody for no GD reason.

So if someone comes at you with a knife you shouldn't be allowed to defend yourself with a gun.

He basically killed him Because he could.
At no point did he reasonably feel threatened or was anyone else threatened.

Doesn't matter if it's the world I really want to live in or not. It's the way he should've handled the situation because if he would've handled it that way he would almost 100% be alive today.

That's not what happened here. But you already knew that.

Nothing warranted taking fire at that point.
Plenty of distance between them. Deputy had the gun on him. Yes, he should have dropped the ax, but from what I saw there were no threatening movements or even words exchanged? I'm not able to listen to the audio well at the moment, but the guy seemed sort of relaxed, possibly off, but nothing seemed to warrant firing just yet.
I think it was way too soon and unnecessary. Nothing was exactly pressing at that moment. Keep distance and get more backup to attempt possibly less lethal? I don't know, but that certainly was way too quick.

He didn't, he told him 4 times to drop it.
Also, it's obvious he was called about the guy being dangerous. He ran up, asked is that him, and pulled his gun.

Yeah, I've seen tons of other videos where cops get shot, attacked, etc in a split second by someone that didn't seem to be a threat. There was one posted here less than a month ago where the guy didnt seem to have any weapon and then Boom, cop gets shot in the head.

Who called the cops? And why? I heard him say is that him.

Good shot Blue. Guy didn’t surrender his deadly weapon when ordered to and raised it up and he bit the bullet.

Exactly, you don't negotiate in that situation, you do what you are told. Guy was dumb and payed the price.
