Who called the cops? And why?

I think cops shot him for not reading the thread, to see the answer multiple times the calls were from neighbors. At 4 am it was armed dispute, with a mentally ill individual. At 11:30 neighbors called again because he was vandalizing their houses.

If this cop was so scared of Paul Bunyan' reputation, why did he run up on him? Because that was the distance he felt competent to deliver a headshot. He has spent enough range time to know he might have missed if he had stayed 10-20 yds further away.

Yeah, I've seen tons of other videos where cops get shot, attacked, etc in a split second by someone that didn't seem to be a threat. There was one posted here less than a month ago where the guy didnt seem to have any weapon and then Boom, cop gets shot in the head.

That's great. I'm sure the YouTube algorithm can find plenty of bootlicking videos for you. Just because a cop is tragically killed in the line of duty doesn't mean that every cop in America gets to run around shooting people that don't pose a threat. Being a cop is a dangerous job. But its not a license to kill people.

It's fricking pathetic that people accept a government that shoots it's own people with no provocation. And it's sad that people will justify it so easily. Some of yall would've sided with the Romans when they crucified Jesus.

Good shot Blue. Guy didn’t surrender his deadly weapon when ordered to and raised it up and he bit the bullet.

Y’all are some of the biggest pussies if you think that guy raised his hand in a threatening manner. His body wasn’t even turned to throw it with any force.

Jumpy cops shouldn’t be running around with guns.

You do it then big boy.

I'll typically side with a cop that puts himself in danger to stop a threat/protect people over a dumbass with a huge knife that won't drop it when he is told to.

Like tons of jobs, it's always easier to ridicule others performance when you've never done it. You think you'd be better at it, go do it yourself for a year.

Like I said, go do it yourself for a year or so, watch all the videos they show you of how fast a situation can escalate, how fast someone can kill you, etc.

That was unnecessary.

But in that situation you have to think about saving your life. Put the damn ax down and hands up and this is likely not a story.

Not sure why this is getting downvoted. Doesn’t mean you are saying the cop was in the right by stating the guy should have followed the instructions. Not sure if guy was drunk, stoned, or deaf, but put it down and live to file a complaint.

I can only see a cop being this aggressive and quick to shoot if the guy had a gun not an axe at that distance. The camera may be distorting the distance, but it didn’t seem like the guy could toss the axe that quickly.

One thing I think cops in the US have to get better at is using lights, sirens, and announcing themselves as armed police when going in guns drawn especially if they don’t know who suspect is or who the homeowners are. I know they are armed regardless, but I just think as soon as call to check on something turns into guns being drawn that escalation should be clear to everyone around.

Same for the cop though. The cop can't just assume the guy with an axe doesn't know how to throw it.

Man clearing brush? I don't see that anywhere in the article. All I see is an armed man that was identified as making threats and then decided to flirt around with suicide by cop. Is there more to this from somewhere else?

You’d walk onto someone’s property while they were using an axe in some of their woods and cap them in the face from 60 feet if they moved their axe from below their waist?

What in the absolute frick

Man that sucks, but I just don't understand what the guy was doing. Cop is clearly yelling "PUT THE AXE DOWN" multiple times...so the dude raises it next to his head in what could be construed as an attempt to throw it at the officer?

Seems instinctive to raise your hand and show that it's just a simple garden tool in your hand. The man was murdered while calmly saying "hey listen bro." No threat to the officer whatsoever. Or maybe he was an old man who was slow to respond. It doesn't matter; free people shouldn't live in fear of having to prove to amped up short-dick cops that we're not a threat.
