Your friend - may he rest in peace - died because of a drunk driver. He could very well have been driving a car. This was not a cycling issue - it was s drinking and driving issue.

And I mean that with all due respect.

He certainly did die b/c of a drunk driver. My point was not to blame or bash Crowson but to think about that kind of shite. I apologize for calling him entitled. Just maybe idealistic and naive.

I may be 100% justified in riding that same stretch of road, but at 9pm on a Saturday I'm going to be terrified of drunk idiots and take extra precaution.

Another relevant(to my side job) example is a noob pizza delivery guy going to a shady neighborhood and walking up to a dark house with no cars parked there to make the delivery. We have to make assumptions about our environment sometimes.
Innocent naivete will get you hurt or killed.

I love posts like this. Would you mind explaining in specific detail what they should be wearing instead?

Common sense would also tell me that this is a neighborhood street with 8 traffic calming devices already in place, and if a cyclist needs to use the vehicle lane for 150 feet during the 3/4 mile stretch, it will be okay.

But as we've mentioned before...the bike lane wasn't always a bike lane. It was just a space between the vehicle lane and the curb for at least 4 years, then the bike symbol was painted on the ground.

For the record, I think both sides are being unreasonable.

Last time I read something like that it was followed up with the suggestion of gym/basketball shorts and some sort of tech tee

Resident here. Sorry bikers, you're going to lose this one. The whole thing is a dumpster fire since day one. I don't get why these knuckleheads don't just pressure wash the cute little bicycle guy off the bike lane and leave it unmarked. Problem solved.

I'm waiting for Burgundy to go to a One-way. The amount of butthurt from the people who cut through will be of epic proportions.

I would like to ask, how many people have actually had many interactions with cyclists where they were breaking the law to a point that it disrupted your driving? Compare that to you just being stuck behind them while they are driving legally, but you are just annoyed with how slow they are. Not saying it's not annoying, but let's be honest. Everyone here is trying to paint this as a cyclist break all the laws making it dangerous argument, when I think in reality, everyone is just annoyed being behind them. So let's quit trying to make this about cyclists being entitled or wanting anything special and just call a spade a spade and say getting stuck behind them sucks.

I ride and I totally agree with that. Sucks when someone rides in a place where they can't be overtaken by vehicles easily. But let's quit trying to say cyclists are acting entitled by breaking laws and wanting certain laws written for them. I won't pretend cyclists don't break laws sometimes, but I see just as many cars rolling through stop signs as I do bikes.

I have to agree with this. Dudes with big ole bellies and flabby asses(i have the belly) should NOT be wearing that attire.
It's kinda like a big girl wearing a bikini. Most women who are plus sized 'know better' and wear a one piece. But.... there's always those women who be like "I'm at the beach, i'm wearing a bikini!"

BR has at LEAST 50 of these dudes here.

Honest question, since there are no "No Parking" signs on the I-10 bridge, do you think you can legally park there?

Were you ever allowed to park on the I-10 bridge without being ticketed?

I hate in NOLA when cyclist ride on skinny roads like Magazine, when they could ride down Camp, which has barely any cars on it and parallels the road, instead the biker would rather ride on a busy arse street and slow everyone down while they look at all the stores and crap.

They(call them cycling activists) are a rare breed and give the sport/activity a bad reputation.

Maybe the way it looks to you, but not in terms of "performance". There is a reason cyclists wear tight fitting clothes and it isn't because of appearance.

Cyclists will just slow you down since they'll have to take the entire lane due the narrow travel lane.

Burgundy will not be a one-way. No one cares about that street.

Oh hell yeah, especially the part where the person starts going off on the tangent about how rich people don't want the help parking in the driveway.
shite pretty much every service company I know, in their employee rules is "Never park in the driveway"
