I would think the ideal spot would be somewhere with lots of outdoor activity, clean, low crime, good values

As people become more mobile, extended family will move too. I'd never stake my claim based on the idea I wanted to stay close to a bunch of relatives.

After I moved, so did almost all of my family. Now, we're scattered and we are still close.

I live in Chicago and it's one of the worst places to raise a family. Taxes are crazy high. Crime is really bad. Public School system is a joke. Private school is $50k/year. Should I go on?

Only reason I wouldn't live in Austin is because of overpopulation and the cost of living is 4.2% better than the national average. Otherwise, Austin might be the best place to live.
