Houston has the best residents.
I'd pretty much agree with this.
Austin has become pretty horribly overrated as far as a place to live. It's great to visit for a weekend, but hard pass on living there.

No one mentioned San Antonio or Corpus

That's because the DFW metro is so huge. Google it. Its the largest landlocked metro. What one city lacks another city has.

You either like Dallas or don't. Count me on not liking it. It's huge with a lot of sprawl. Ignoring the suburbs, the city culture is very big and flashy. I'm kind of understated and never felt like I fit in well. Only place I've been that I felt inferior for not buying a vehicle I can't afford.

I really like Austin but...
It's Dallas for me.
It doesn't have the natural beauty of the Hill Country but it's mapped out so much better than Austin it isn't close when it comes to getting around. Dallas has better highways, far better public transportation options, two major airports that are easy to get to, 5 pro sports teams, multiple nearby lakes, just as many if not more quality food options, and a more diverse economy.
Houston... not really a fan. Reminds me of if you took the worst aspects of LA, NOLA and Atlanta and then sucked all the fun out of them.

Well, if you make me pick between that option and the strung out superficial dallas scene, I guess I lose either way
For the record, I thoroughly enjoyed living in lower greenville

Yeah, there's like 3 places to go out in Ft Worth.
Stockyards - okay once but gets old
West 7th - a very manufactured vibe, pretty cheesy
Magnolia - not bad but tries too hard to be hipster

Its not that hard to avoid the overly superficial parts once you learn where everything is. When I moved here I started out in Uptown which I didn't really care for. I worked at a place up North on the tollway just past Addison and that was the suck.
But after I moved to LG and started working in Deep Ellum (which has really started to clean up and boom) I began to appreciate Dallas much more. The Lakewood area is pretty nice as well.

I just haven't spent enough time in Dallas to have an opinion on it. unless I'm forgetting something I've spent a total of 4 nights there in my life.
Just never had a reason to go

Live in north Dallas because I refuse to to pay 1500 bucks a month for 700 sqft in uptown when I can pay 1300 and get 1300. However, I work in Las Colinas and for the easy access to both Uptown / North Dallas , I am seriously considering buying my home there or Plano.
Love Dallas, I love the flash. I lived in Podunk east Texas for college and hated every single freaking minute of it.

I've been living in Corpus Christi for the last few years and it's slowly growing on me
Could really use a huge upgrade in entertainment options such as dining and live music however

Depends on what you want.
I've never had a terrible time in Austin. That city always has something interesting going on.

The suburbs of all three are basically all the same.
But in terms of the actual CITIES? One of these is not at all like the others!
There are almost no minorities in the actual city of Austin and almost no crime.
The roadway system is terrible. It's not a "system" at all, which is the problem.
But living a life without poors and without crime... it's incredible. Austin is like the 1950s in the sense that you don't even have to lock your doors. You can't fully appreciate the difference unless you've lived it. I'll take the traffic for the complete absence of diversity... it's well worth it.
