Obviously the answer is Austin with Dallas coming in second and Houston 3rd but make the case for either of the 3.

Most Texans would say Austin. Houston or Dallas would depend if they live in/are from Houston or Dallas.

Austin is the best city but has the worst residents.

Houston has the best residents.

Austin is the best city. DFW is the best metro area.

Austin was probably cool 15 years ago but now it's a yuppie haven with godawful traffic and overpriced real estate.

I prefer Houston to Dallas of the remaining choices here.

I live in Dallas but could be happy in all three cities. And I am talking about living in the core of the city. If you have to go to the burbs then I can't help you.

Fort Worth is the correct answer for larger cities

New Braunfels is correct for smaller cities

Odessa and Amarillo belong in the conversation. And Pfleugerville.

If you have kids North Dallas, safe awesome schools etc etc etc

Job market and housing market booming.

I live here - that's what makes it better than the other two

Fort Worth

There's a movement for Fort Worth being the new Austin, but, having lived there, I just don't see it. It's a big city with a small town feel that would be severely lacking a lot of things if Dallas weren't next door.

Houston and Austin are garbage.

DFW area is the GOAT.

Austin wouldn't be that bad, but the traffic there is horrendous, same with Houston.

DFW has its traffic issues, but not near as bad.
