So, yeah, I sat in and cranked this car in Dothan, Alabama exactly a month ago and knew it was bound for this auction at no reserve. It only brought 19K? I shouldve just bought it outright.

are 6-cyl Mustangs that high right now?
I wouldn't get anything less than a 289 in one.

Especially Spanky; he's their lead auctioneer and he's beyond annoying.

I'm curious about the guys who take the bids and make the various rooster calls to alert the auctioneer. How do you interview for that? Can you imagine the conversations between the various ones to determine their distinct calls?

"Bob I'm gonna do a 'caa Caw!' I'm gonna need you to 'coo coo' ok?"

good for you, bro.... enjoy it....

i mean i've always seen it on TV, but i'm not a car guy.... one of the pharmacist at the store i transferred out of was, and he would try to talk to me in "car talk" about engines and old cars, and i would just smile and nod not to offend him... i didn't have the heart to tell him i didn't have the slightest fricking clue about whatever he was talking about...

I printed out my tickets last night

You really should come out here one year. Not only is Barrett Jackson going on.....but a few other shows/auctions in the area. They take advantage of all the people flying in for BJ. Some of those shows have cheaper cars that us lowly normal folk could afford.

Driving around this am I've notuced a ton of classic cars driving around as well. It's classic car heaven here this weekend.

Its looking like we might head out there next year for the Scottsdale show. My dad and I have been talking about going for years and next year looks like our schedules could both be clear for the event

I love watching Barrett Jackson, but I always fall asleep watching it

One thing I was wondering after watching the other day...how do these charity auctions really work? For example, a rigged out 2015 Jeep Wrangler was auctioned off for I think $70,000ish (someone who was watching correct me if I'm wrong)...that's obviously way over value of the vehicle. So how does that work? I know this guy didn't actually pay 70,000 dollar for a run of the mill jeep with a bunch of accessories. Do they get the vehicle and then anything over the appraised value of said vehicle as a charitable contribution deduction??

Well that's no fun. I could keep her busy while you slobber over cars. We'll go to the spas here at some of the resorts and go shopping and all that girly stuff all day and then she can meet up with you later. I know she is a foodie.....they have some really nice restaurants in Scottsdale that she would love.

I wonder how the sale of this collection will affect the vintage car market over the long term? There was some concern when Houston lawyer John O'Quinn's estate sold his collection of 800 nice cars.

It hurt some specific brands (Packard being one) on a short term basis.

But she's so close to the awesome spas and resorts in Biloxi

I'm confused about this auction. There's some of course really awesome cars. But then there are cars that look like they should be sold on Craigslist

It really makes me miss my 65 and even 93 mustangs

Six cylinder hurts, and I suspect that car was about a 3. The price was about right.
