Back Injury (workout related)

Hello all,
Seem to have injured the middle of my back just inches away from my spine. Feels like an enormous knot and is extremely painful when I lean down or turn from side to side.
I normally have very strict form when deadlifting and squatting but ended up being a little sloppy last week and I am paying for it badly. I didn't feel any significant pain during the lift nothing sharp nor extreme.
However I have not been able to get rid of this feeling for nearly over a week. I've done bed rest for a few days, ice the first 72hours, now heating pad. I'm 27 years old and never had an injury like this one. It doesn't feel spinal, it's just a couple of inches over to the right. Absolutely killing me.
I'll see a doctor soon, what am I looking at?

Ever had anything like this before? What kind of recovery time is it?
After a week it doesn't seem to be getting any better either.

Depending on how bad, a few days to several weeks or more. If it's not better by Monday, get it checked out.

Go to Dr and get an anti inflammatory. Itll probably knock it out faster.

Definite muscle strain. Had one in the same area a few weeks back. It sucked. Heating pad seemed to work best for me. Rest for a week or so and you'll be good.

Don't go back to the gym until it is completely healed.
Mess it up again and it will be really bad

ETA: damn it, fat fingers.
Try an NSAID- 4 Advil/ibuprofen 3x/day x1wk OR (not Both) 2x aleve/naproxen 2x/day for a week. Take it easy. Rest. Ice.
A massage would actually be a decent thing to get- either professional or from an SO or whoever is close to you that wouldn't mind rubbing your back for a bit. If it's not improving by 1 week, see your PCP.

Really not necessary. OTC stuff is great. Unless he's requiring a shot of Toradol (and at present, he's not), taking more OTC pills is exactly the same as taking a higher-dosed one from a doctor.

Dry needling. Ask Gordy rush.

Likely strain or a spasm.
Anti-inflammatories and massage/foam rolling.

Get you a lacrosse ball and roll on it once the pain calms down a bit

Ill be trying this out for the first time on Monday. Pretty pumped. I've heard from more than a few that swear by it.

I'm almost 40 and started working out again. I've had several of these, a couple that were severe like yours. At home, ice and heat. A foam roller is a great thing to have at home. Pop some Advil to get the swelling down so you can work it. , stretch it, etc
The most important thing to get over it quickly is a good deep tissue massage. I have a great chiro that does basically a deep tissue massage but I was out of town last time I had one. Had a great deep tissue massage by a massage therapist and within 24 hours it was much better.
This is all assuming it is a muscle strain /sprain but it sounds identical to my problem.

Ask for Toridol (sp?). Non-narcotic so they will likely give it to you with little pushback.
Might prescribe you some muscle relaxers and pain killers (probably nothing good).
I usually feel much better before getting to the car and just get the muscle relaxer filled since the painkiller is just high dose advil and not even worth the copay.
