Germany couldn't feed itself or power itself without importing food and energy. With so many men in uniform it had to resort to slave labor to keep the factories running, and by 1943 even had to fill it's military ranks with foreign mercenaries. It had no navy to speak of except for U Boats. It couldn't cross the English Channel, much less an ocean. For all it's reputation for mechanized warfare, the army still moved mostly in horse drawn wagons.
Germany was punching above it's weight and did well for a while. But the heavyweight eventually got down to business and That was that.

While our Navy and Marine Corps were in the Pacific, and we sent our Army over to Europe to kick their arse for the second time in a quarter century.
Not to mention we got hit hard at Pearl Harbor.

germany solidifies its power and control of all of europe
Germany was never for a moment capable of invading, conquering, and successfully pacifying Britain. Thus, any hold on Europe (on top of the one it already had from Dunkirk to D-Day) would have always been tenuous and ultimately temporary. Besides, Italy was always a paper tiger and would have allowed the United States/Allies to invade the continent even without a landing in France. It would have taken longer and cost more lives, but Germany could not have won once the war went global.

Terrible argument
Russia was fighting the Germans
but the US was also fighting in the Pacific Theater
For the US to have to mobilize on both fronts and still push back the Germans, they would have done it a lot quicker had they not been involved with Japan
Imagine all those resources committed to defeating Germany
Plus they beat Germany without atomic warfare
Japan just refused to surrender

Germany wasn’t going to win any battles based on attrition due to a relative lack of manpower and natural resources compared to the Allies.
To reference a professor I once had on the subject, Germany’s oil was provided by Romania. Take a look at the number of Romanian oil barons you see in casinos around the world to figure out how much oil they had.

If the US had turned it's full military and industrial might against Germany they crumble in 2 years tops.

The US at peak capacity was still ramping up. USA late WW2 was the most badass fighting force ever on the planet relative to its peers, and still ramping up at a blistering pace

The US is also more abundant in natural resources for the production of weapons.

if it was germany vs USA we wouldn't have had a chance
Posted on 11/1/21 at 4:25 pm to bdavids09
It would have been much tougher but Germany lacked resources to keep their war machine turning for a long duration. That’s why they attacked the USSR Hitler figured Stalin would turn on him eventually once the commies built up their military, and Hitler needed control of their oil and mines to fuel his war machine
US had all the resources and manpower to keep a war going as long as we wanted unabated due to being across the Atlantic Ocean
Also the US fought two military powers on two fronts on 2 separate continents and won both. If it were Germany vs the US on one front at peak military strength the US wins easily

I say one-on-one, Germany would beat US. They were by far more prepared, but America had the advantage of throwing their resources behind the effort as time went on.
Germany was not built for the long game and Germany couldn’t handle Russia and America at the same time.

You didn't type this post in German.
That should be a strong clue.

1941 Germany would walk through us like they did France. Would be no contest. We’d all be speaking German now.
1945 USA wins, but we do not make it that far if Germany invades.

Maybe. I guess if you throw a full strength SS Panzer Division with Panther and Tiger II’s (no mechanical breakdowns) up against a full strength US Armored division I may take the Germans. But their problem was most of their vehicles were constantly in the shop or left behind.
Funny how German vehicles in WW2 were known to be cutting edge with all the bells & whistles ie night vision, auto loaders, enhanced optics, powerful cannons etc yet they were extremely unreliable just like a BMW or Mercedes today

Germany was actually weaker than France on paper. The problem was France's entire defense plan was a WWI type stalemate. They could have easily stopped the blitz but the top French generals were phucking stupid and didn't move reserves in time, even held up reinforcements due change in top generals when hours mattered. The bravery of their soldiers was something of wonder, many units fought to the last man. Entire divisions were sent south when they could have been used to stop Germany cold in Belgium

Not sure how you could reach that conclusion. Germany had no ability to force the US to surrender at any point in the war. Even their most ambitious hypothetical plans for the Reich mostly fell short of being able to project power in the Western Hemisphere.

Thank goodness the Wehrmacht was incapable of walking on water, and the Kreigsmarine’s surface capability was a joke….
