figures. people are so quick to blame the truck drivers.
This is a situation I dont think people would blame bus drivers for. Never in my life have I seen a truck driver drive on the shoulder to pass someone. They may do a few questionable things on the road, but they usually aren't doing crazy stuff like that.

The only time I've seen anyone drive on the shoulder at speed was to avoid someone that swerved into their lane. A big rig actually.
To pass one one at night he must have some kind of death wish. In this case the guard rail narrowed, but he could have hit a disabled car just as easily.

I meant the 18-wheeler.

I wonder how they caught him so soon. Someone must have turned him in.

and the driver swerved back into the lane because there is no shoulder on the bridge.
instead of hitting the brakes
which would have been the right thing to do
now his whole life is changed and someone lost a loved one
due to impatience...seen it time and time again, folks on bikes and cars and pickups too will avoid the long line on the right, then try to weasel their way over so they can cheat father time
even tho this was shoulder riding, it's the same thing, no patience...that idiot geezer dumped the biker by cutting him off too...two wrongs don't make a right

Authorities said two 18-wheelers were driving in the right and left lanes of the two-lane highway
I wonder how long they were riding side by side.

Not that it matters but I have passed a trucker on the shoulder for this very reason in Alabama. Was behind two truckers for more than ten miles, they were side by side the whole time.
This happened to me once. Called the number on the truck and the dispatcher put me on hold, called him, and told him to move over. She came back on and asked if he moved. It was awesome.

frick that guy. I hope he gets the maximum sentence possible.

It's a dick move and endangers the lives of other motorists as they "compress" behind behind the rolling road block. Truckers don't care.
It's not worth the risk of passing them on the shoulder especially at night.....for this exact reason. Two wrongs do not make a right and it certainly doesn't make the road any safer. It's never okay to pass on the shoulder.

IMO, you're being soft on this tPOS.
If he had done this to my wife or kids,I'd be hard pressed not to want to retaliate.
This fricker didn't just slow roll through a stop sign, he went onto the shoulder of a major highway swerving recklessly and caused someone innocent to die. frick him.

Looks just like I thought he would look.

I must admit, THAT in particular, I find quite annoying
, they know they should be in the right lane...

I get what you're saying because we have all been behind truckers that have ridden side by side for miles...but you don't pass on the right hand shoulder especially on a bridge. Then if you do cause a wreck you don't flee like a little bitch.

I figger we all have momentary lapses in judgment as well as impatience...coulda easily been any one of us on a bad day...

I think thats basically the biggest issue here. Did he know what would happen ? Probably not at all. Did the truckers purposely block people? Doubtful. The fact that he fleed is so spineless.

did you happen to catch that thread from russia...
I can still see that truck snaking between the only out that guy had, and with the precision of a watchmaker!!!
but you are right, never seen them pass on right and do crazy stuff...find that vid, it will be worth it

I agree, to be that reckless and cause such a horrible accident is one thing. To flee the scene and not even acknowledge what you did is unforgivable.
I see jackasses drive like this all the time, and I just hope they don't take me out like this poor guy.
