What is going to be chasing y'all?

It is faster than you. However, it is likely to decide to chase you rather than out run you, so you have a chance.

They are speedy for short bursts, but not 40 yds worth.

No way you lose.

Smart money is both. After watching that Sylvester Stallone movie, I figured y'all were more quick than straight line fast.

I had a short-haired dachshund as a kid - remember that's German for "badger hound" - so, he might kill you if he gets you around the throat, Chicken.

20 yards you lose, 40 yards you win IMO. Your strides will make up ground past 20 yards.

My goldendoodle embarrasses me in races. I always challenge him on the trails we run and he purposely runs in circles around me as I'm sprinting and still wins just to frick with me.

What an a-hole.

What is the dog's incentive to run? Can you keep him from his owner for a day then have the owner waiting with a treat at the finish line?

Little fricker might find some extra juju for that

But you win because of the length. Their legs are too short to keep up with anything past 20 yards IMO.

He'd frick your world up in the 3 cone drill though.

Thoughts?

My old roommate had one, that dog would definitely beat me at 40 yards and it really wouldn't be close.

40 yards is a long race for an animal with 6 inch legs and a 2 foot torso.

Just sayin.

If it's anything like my old dachshund he'll stop halfway through the race and start humping something.

I saw daschunds race at a horse track between Galveston and Houston. Them little dogs were surprisingly quick.

have you ever tried to chase down a chicken? Those frickers are quick. Same can be said about a pig.

I've had a miniature dachshund for over 12 years now. He's gotten away from us a few times, and I think all but once I was not only able to outrun him, but catch him within 40 yards. One time my dad and I were moving a piece of furniture at his mothers and someone left the door open and the dumbass dog darts out into the road. Even having to put the furniture down slowly, I was able to get started running and catch him within about 60 yards. They are quick off the line, but top out relativly quickly.

Another time, when we were living in a townhouse on a busy area, he got out of the house and I hawked him down before he got to the main road, and I was wearing dress shoes and a suit.

If you aren't cheating you aren't really trying. Lock this thing up by putting a bunch of chocolate in the pups food before the race.
