re: How conservative was/is your father? - mworld938
My father was career Army with two stints in Vietnam and one in Korea. He didn't like politicians in general. He did like the raises Reagan gave them. He also felt like Nixon got a bad rap....

re: Best bottle bourbon $30-$35 - mworld938
Willet is smooth and the bottle is interesting for a gift. $33 at Aquistipace. Basil Hayden is a well known solid pick at that price point. ...

re: Some questions for Work Travelers... - mworld938
Thought this would be an interesting topic. I'll ask a few questions and see where it takes us. How many nights per month are you in a hotel? 4-6 What is your preferred hotel chain and why? Hyatt and Priority Club (Platinum with both. I go to a lot of shithole towns where Holiday Inn is as go...

re: Worst Popular Live Band You Ever Heard? - mworld938
Aerosmith in 1985. Horrible shite show. Opening act was Ted Nugent who performed at 110 and saved the night. Good thing concerts were only $15 back then. ...

re: Going Solo to New York City Next Month - Staying Near Battery Park - mworld938
Two of my favorite things are nearly free. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge and have pizza at Juliana's (the crowds will be at Grimaldi's next door). Ride the Staten Island Ferry- great views. 9-11 Museum is nice but crowds can make it unbearable. I hate Times Square. Subway is really easy to figure o...

re: Smoothest Coffee Suggestions - mworld938
Britt coffee from Costa Rica has been our go-to once we found it on Amazon Prime. When we visited Costa Rica, we noticed how smooth the coffee was and bought a bunch to bring home. It was a sad day when it ran out. On a whim, I checked Amazon, and they sell it for the same price and offer subscr...

re: Big Trouble: Movie that tried too hard? - mworld938
I really liked it. Dennis Farina was his usual character. Johnny Knoxville and Tom Sizemore were an awesome surprise. Underrated in my opinion....

re: Fargo season 1 or season 2, which did you like better? - mworld938
I loved them both. One of the best shows made IMO. Season 2 by a frog hair. Malvo was my favorite character in both seasons. BBT was made for that role. The use of music in Season 2 was pretty bad ass. Great soundtrack....

re: Workers of the OT, recommend me a pair of steel toe work boots - mworld938
Chippewa is made in the US and a great alternative to Red Wing. Very comfortable with Vibram soles and waxed laces. I get mine from Amazon - true to size.[link=(http://www.amazon.com/Chippewa-Mens-Steel-20081-Brown/dp/B00593CA2E/ref=sr_1_3?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1463775907&sr=1-3&nodeID=679255011&k...

re: Long TSA lines at MSY American Airlines? - mworld938
Lines aren't bad compared to most airports. I signed up for Global Entry/TSA precheck. I got my conditional approval last week. The soonest follow up appointment was August 9! Government efficiency....

re: College Graduation Gift - mworld938
Depends on the kid. Mine is going straight to grad school. I am paying for the flight to UK and living expenses for the year. She is paying tuition on her own. I will probably pay for Lasik after post grad. She didn't want anything. ...

re: How big is your bubble? - mworld938
My kids (Senior/Sophomore at LSU) would probably be in the 20's. I was mid sixties. It's good for subsequent generations to improve. They seem keenly aware of their families roots and the uphill climb....
