re: Where's the best Banh Mi in the Mandeville/Covington area? - mworld938
Saigon in the strip mall in front of the Covington Wal Mart. Everything there is solid although a little pricier than the Wank/Chalmette. ...

Smoke and Sticks & Bones as have been mentioned. I really like Sweet Daddy's too which hasn't been mentioned. They have really good take out options....

re: Northshore homeowners - which way do you pay your property taxes? - mworld938
Through my escrow. Also, pay attention to the reassessment years for your house and your neighbors. One year, ours went up a little higher than some or neighbors. We filed an appeal and they reduced it. It paid to pay attention....

re: Anyone with a F-150? - mworld938
My company truck is a 2014 Ford XLT super cab with the 5.0 V8. 115k miles on it and only one set of tires/battery and scheduled maintenance. No problems and it looks and drives like new (especially after the 100k service). Average MPG is 21 with mostly highway driving. I like it more than the ne...

re: Live Blues CD/album/recording - mworld938
I was just listening to a live version of "The Green Manalishi". Great blues rock song by Fleetwood Mac. They didn't suck before they got the girls. Judas Priest does a great cover of the same song. (I know this isn't classic blues). Junior Kimbrough for classic blues in addition to those prev...

re: What is the best brand of canned black beans? - mworld938
I get the Goya ones (actually listed as black bean soup). It is more like regular canned beans. I soften some finely diced onions, garlic, and bacon. Pour in beans, season with cumin, bay leaf, salt & pepper and some hot sauce. A diced tomato is alright to add too....

re: Do I cut the bottoms off of Brussels sprouts? - mworld938
I do then halve them. I toss them with 3 slices of dice uncooked bacon. Salt & Pepper. After I take them out of the oven, I will toss them in a Thai chili glaze or drizzle with balsamic dressing, olive oil and sprinkle with grated Parmesan & Romano....

re: "Fudging" salary when telling someone - mworld938
Not really appropriate to discuss on the civilian side. When I was military everyone knows what each other makes (slight differences based on housing allowances and special pays)....

re: Top things to do in London besides the landmarks - mworld938
Make a reservation for the Sky Garden at the top of the walkie talkie building. Great cocktails and the best view in the city. They control the crowd size so it comfortable. You won't regret it. I enjoyed the Saturday markets. Catch a theatre show and a soccer game if you have a chance. I hate...

My per diem is $75 but the boss man don't care if I go over. I had a seared local fish with some good Washington white wine. Had some good sausage and beers at some brewpub in downtown PA. ...

re: Port Angeles, WA - mworld938
I had a work trip there and had to stay in Sequim which is next door. Ate at Blondie's and had a great meal. Sat at the bar with a nice cougar. Good mixed drinks, local beers and wines. Victoria, BC is incredible if you have time to take the ferry. [link=(http://www.blondiesplate.com)]Blondi...

re: Best noise canceling headphones - mworld938
I love my Bose 35s. They will hurt your wallet but worth every penny for me as I fly a lot for work. If you know someone in the military, they are cheaper and tax free....

re: Wow, didn't know the 9th circuit has an 80% reversal rate at the Supreme Court - mworld938
When I was involved in counter narcotic operations, all our cases were held in the 11th (Tampa). They were very friendly to Federales. This included seizures made right off Baha. It was far above my pay grade on how those cases were always held in the 11th without geographic considerations of the...

re: Social Security will have negative cash flows in 2020 - mworld938
My current projected income at retirement is as follows... retiring at 65 16k a month from my 401k until age 80
You have 2.8 million in a 401k though? That is pretty impressive. I have warned my kids (21 & 24) to not count on that system to be solvent and plan accordingly....
