re: Where Were You on 9/11? - mworld938
I was Chief of a Coast Guard small boat detachment in Virginia. We were dispatched to NYC and made it to Ground Zero before midnight. It was a surreal experience and the deployment lasted 90 days before we were relieved. God Bless the people of New York. The ash was so thick that everyone looked...

re: Meribo- Downtown Covington - mworld938
The crudo appetizer and pizza were outstanding. The place is nicely decorated. Service was good considering the servers seemed like hipster wannabe teens. Drinks were very good but priced very high. I will definitely be back. Nice to have another option on the Northshore....

re: Bengals vs Jaguars SNF Game Thread - mworld938
Thanks Boo. I remember when Sneakers opened (was stationed there from 90-96). We are gonna retire there in about 4 years and Nocatee is on the list. Looking at Jax Beach south to St. Augustine. Miss that area. Glad to hear there is an LSU Alum group in the area. ...

FLBooGoTigs: Wife and I will be visiting her family in Atlantic Beach, FL. Are there any LSU fan base bars to watch the LSU/Whisky game? They live about 2 blocks from Ragtime/Pete's Bar so that option is on the table....

re: German food- Milwaulkee - mworld938
Went there to see Sturgill Simpson a few months ago. We had dinner at Mader's. Good food and somewhat creepy vibe. After the show we went to the bar connected to Mader's and the whole band was there (no Sturgill unfortunately). We got them a few rounds and didn't bug them after thanking them for...

re: How conservative was/is your father? - mworld938
My father was career Army with two stints in Vietnam and one in Korea. He didn't like politicians in general. He did like the raises Reagan gave them. He also felt like Nixon got a bad rap....

re: Best bottle bourbon $30-$35 - mworld938
Willet is smooth and the bottle is interesting for a gift. $33 at Aquistipace. Basil Hayden is a well known solid pick at that price point. ...

re: Some questions for Work Travelers... - mworld938
Thought this would be an interesting topic. I'll ask a few questions and see where it takes us. How many nights per month are you in a hotel? 4-6 What is your preferred hotel chain and why? Hyatt and Priority Club (Platinum with both. I go to a lot of shithole towns where Holiday Inn is as go...

re: Going Solo to New York City Next Month - Staying Near Battery Park - mworld938
Two of my favorite things are nearly free. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge and have pizza at Juliana's (the crowds will be at Grimaldi's next door). Ride the Staten Island Ferry- great views. 9-11 Museum is nice but crowds can make it unbearable. I hate Times Square. Subway is really easy to figure o...

re: Smoothest Coffee Suggestions - mworld938
Britt coffee from Costa Rica has been our go-to once we found it on Amazon Prime. When we visited Costa Rica, we noticed how smooth the coffee was and bought a bunch to bring home. It was a sad day when it ran out. On a whim, I checked Amazon, and they sell it for the same price and offer subscr...
